Ethnopharmacological relevance

Paspalum scrobiculatum Linn. (Poaceae) is traditionally used to treat diabetes mellitus. The grains of Paspalum scrobiculatum are having potential in the development of drug for diabetes due to their antidiabetic activity.

Aim of the study

To evaluate the antidiabetic activity of aqueous and ethanolic extracts of grains of Paspalum scrobiculatum Linn. (Poaceae) in alloxan induced diabetic rats.

Materials and methods

Aqueous and ethanolic extracts (250 and 500 mg/kg body weight), were administered orally to male Wistar albino rats. Alloxan monohydrate was used to induce diabetes mellitus. Total phenolic content was estimated in the extracts. The parameters studied included oral glucose tolerance test, fasting blood glucose, serum insulin and glycated haemoglobin levels, liver glycogen content, serum lipid profile, and changes in body weights.

Results

In oral glucose tolerance test, reduction of fasting blood glucose levels took place from 60 min of extract administration. The extracts produced a dose-dependent fall in fasting blood glucose (FBG). After 15 days of treatment with extracts the maximum reduction in FBG (35.14%) was observed in diabetic rats treated with ethanolic extract 500 mg/kg dose. A significant increase in serum insulin level was observed in the treated rats. Serum lipid levels were reversed towards near normal and a control in the loss of body weight was observed in treated rats as compared to diabetic control. The extract treatment also showed a significant increase in the liver glycogen and a significant decrease in glycated haemoglobin levels. The results demonstrate that Paspalum scrobiculatum possesses significant antidiabetic activity in diabetic rats.

Conclusion

The results suggest that Paspalum scrobiculatum has antidiabetic activity, thereby justifying its traditional claim and augmenting it into the present day systems of medicine.  相似文献

目的: 观察紫茉莉根醇提物对实验性2型糖尿病大鼠血糖、血脂及胰岛素水平的影响。 方法: 注射链脲佐菌素(STZ,40 mg·kg-1, ip)加高糖高脂饲料喂养建立2型糖尿病大鼠模型,大鼠分为正常组、模型组、低中高剂量紫茉莉根醇提物(1,2,4 g·kg-1)和罗格列酮组(4 mg·kg-1),连续给药8周。给药后每2周测1次空腹血糖(FBG),试剂盒检测糖化血红蛋白(HbAlC)、总胆固醇(TC)、甘油三酯(TG)、肝糖原及肌糖原含量,放射免疫法测血清胰岛素(FINS)。 结果: 给药8周后,糖尿病模型组大鼠FBG, HbAlC, TC, TG, FINS显著升高,胰岛素敏感指数(ISI)、肝糖原、肌糖原水平均显著下降(P<0.01);与糖尿病模型组相比,紫茉莉根醇提物中、高剂量组大鼠FBG, HbAlC, TC, TG, FINS水平下降,ISI, 肝糖原及肌糖原水平均上升,均有显著差异(P<0.01)。 结论: 紫茉莉根醇提物对实验性2型糖尿病大鼠具降糖调脂作用。  相似文献

The hypoglycaemic and hypolipidemic effect of ethanolic extract obtained from seeds of E. jambolana was investigated in alloxan-induced diabetic rabbits. Hypoglycaemic activity was assessed by reduction in fasting blood glucose (FBG) at 90min and also fall in peak blood glucose during glucose tolerance test (GTT) in sub-diabetic and mild diabetic (MD) rabbits, but in severe diabetic (SD) rabbits by reduction in FBG at 90min. Ethanolic extract (100mg/kg body weight) when given orally to sub-diabetic (AR) for 1 day, MD for 7 days and SD for 15 days showed significant fall in FBG at 90min (12% AR, 18.9% MD and 29% SD) and also produced 16.9% fall in peak blood glucose in AR and 21% in MD rabbits during GTT. When administered daily for 15 days to MD and SD rabbits, significant fall in FBG (41.3% MD, 31.6% SD) and glycosylated haemoglobin (GHb) levels (23.3% MD, 26.6% SD) were observed, while serum insulin level showed significant increase (32.8% MD, 26.9% SD). Liver and muscle glycogen content also increased. The ethanolic extract of seeds also exhibited significant hypolipidemic effect as evident from fall in total serum cholesterol (TC)/high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-c) ratio, serum low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-c) levels and decreased activity of HMG-CoA reductase. The histopathological studies of liver, pancreas and aorta in alcoholic extract treated diabetic groups revealed almost normal appearance.  相似文献

The antidiabetic potential of the alcoholic stem extract of Coscinium fenestratum Colebr. (Menispermaceae), a medicinal plant widely used in the traditional Ayurveda and Siddha systems of medicine for the treatment of diabetes mellitus was evaluated in the STZ-nicotinamide induced type 2 diabetic model. Graded doses of the alcoholic stem extract were administered to normal and experimental diabetic rats for 12 days. Significant (p < 0.05) reduction in fasting blood glucose levels were observed in the normal as well as in the treated diabetic animals. Serum insulin levels were not stimulated in the animals treated with the extract. In addition, changes in body weight, serum lipid profiles, thiobarbituric acid reactive substance levels, glycosylated hemoglobin and liver glycogen levels assessed in the extract treated diabetic rats were compared with diabetic control and normal animals. Significant results were observed in the estimated parameters, thereby justifying the use of the plant in the indigenous system of medicine.  相似文献

目的:观察辛开苦降方干预初发2型糖尿病(T2DM)KKAy小鼠胰岛素敏感性及糖脂代谢的影响。方法:10周龄雄性初发T2DM KKAy小鼠40只按血糖值随机分为4组:模型组、罗格列酮组、辛开苦降低剂量组、辛开苦降高剂量组。正常对照组选10周龄雄性C57BL/6J小鼠10只。正常组及模型组给予0.5%羧甲基纤维素钠溶液(CMC)灌胃。各组连续灌胃给药四周后取材,测定其空腹血糖(Fasting Plasma glucose,FPG)、血清胰岛素(Fasting Insulin,FINS)、血脂,肝糖原、肝脂质含量。显微镜下观察肝脏组织形态。结果:给药四周后,与正常组相比,模型组胰岛素敏感指数(Insulin Sensitivity Index,ISI)明显降低(P0.01),FPG、FINS、总胆固醇(Total Cholesterol,TC)、三酰甘油(Triglyceride,TG)、游离脂肪酸(Free Fatty Acid,FFA)、肝脏TC、肝脏TG均明显升高(P0.01),肝糖原含量降低(P0.01)。与模型组相比,罗格列酮组ISI好转(P0.01),FPG、FINS、TC、TG、FFA、TG明显降低(P0.01,P0.05),肝糖原含量明显增加(P0.01)。辛开苦降低剂量组及其高剂量组2组FINS、ISI、肝糖原含量均高于模型组(P0.05,P0.01),TG水平低于模型组(P0.05,P0.01);辛开苦降高剂量还能显著降低FPG、TC水平、FFA水平(P0.05,P0.01)。辛开苦降低剂量组还可显著降低肝脏TG水平(P0.05)。肝脏病理显示:正常组小鼠肝脏结构正常,而模型组小鼠肝脏脂肪变性明显。罗格列酮组小鼠肝脏脂肪变性较模型组有所减轻。辛开苦降低剂量组和辛开苦降高剂量组小鼠肝脂肪变性较模型组有明显改善。结论:辛开苦降方可增加KKAy T2DM小鼠胰岛素敏感性,减轻肝胰岛素抵抗,肝糖原合成增加,从而改善血糖水平,并能降低血及肝脏脂质水平,减轻肝脏脂肪变性,有效保护肝脏组织形态结构。  相似文献

Ethnopharmacological relevance

Cucumis trigonus Roxb. (Cucurbitaceae) fruit is used in the Indian traditional medicine for the treatment of diabetes. Based on a number of reports on the blood glucose level reduction and the other complications of diabetes associated with some Cucurbitaceae plants, the antidiabetic effect of Cucumis trigonus fruit was investigated.

Aim of the study

To investigate the antidiabetic action of the aqueous extract of Cucumis trigonus fruits in the different models of rats.

Materials and methods

The antidiabetic activity of aqueous extract of Cucumis trigonus fruit was evaluated by using normal and streptozotocin-induced-diabetic rats. The acute effect of aqueous extract was evaluated by administering 500 mg/kg p.o. to normoglycemic rats. In the chronic model, the aqueous extract was administered to normal and STZ-induced-diabetic rats at dose of 500 mg/kg p.o. per day for 21 days. Blood glucose levels and body weights were monitored at specific intervals and different biochemical parameters were also carried out.

Results

The statistical data indicated the significant increase in the body weight, liver glycogen and serum insulin level and decrease in the blood glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin levels, total cholesterol and serum triglycerides. HDL cholesterol level was significantly increased when treated with the extract.

Conclusion

The aqueous fruit extract of Cucumis trigonus has had beneficial effects in reducing the elevated blood glucose level and lipid profile of STZ-induced-diabetic rats.  相似文献

目的:探讨2型糖尿病(T2DM)合并微血管病变患者血清肝酶水平的变化及与胰岛素抵抗的相关性。方法:选取T2DM合并糖尿病视网膜病变患者89例为糖尿病微血管病变的代表性人群(观察组),另设97例未合并糖尿病慢性并发症的T2DM患者为对照组,测定2组患者身高、体质量、血压、空腹血糖、空腹C肽、空腹胰岛素、丙氨酸氨基转移酶(ALT)、天门冬氨酸氨基转移酶(AST)、r-谷氨酰转移酶(GGT)、胆红素、糖化血红蛋白等指标,比较2组间所测指标的差异性,并分析肝酶异常与胰岛素抵抗(IR)及各因素的相关性。结果:ALT、AST、GGT、糖化血红蛋白观察组均显著高于对照组,差异有统计学意义(P0.05),经Pearson相关分析,ALT、AST、GGT、糖化血红蛋白与胰岛素抵抗指数(IRI)呈正相关。结论:2型糖尿病合并微血管病变患者其肝酶水平可轻度增高,肝酶异常可能与糖尿病微血管并发症发生、发展相关,且肝酶异常与胰岛素抵抗相关,肝酶异常有可能是胰岛素抵抗的一项预测因子。  相似文献

Aim of the study

Since ancient times, practicians of traditional Chinese medicine have discovered that Artemisia sphaerocephala Krasch. (Asteraceae) seed powder was useful for the treatment of diabetes. Artemisia sphaerocephala Krasch. gum (ASK gum), which is extracted from seed powder of the plant, is a novel food additive favored by the food industry in China. The objective of this study was to determine the antidiabetic function of ASK gum on type 2 diabetes.

Materials and methods

Type 2 diabetic rat model was induced with high fat diet and low dose of streptozotocin (STZ). The effects of ASK gum on hyperglycemia, hyperlipemia, insulin resistance, and liver fat accumulation in type 2 diabetic rats were evaluated. The results were compared to those of normal rats and diabetic rats treated with metformin.

Results

The addition of ASK gum to the rats’ food supply significantly lowered fasting blood glucose, glycated serum protein, serum cholesterol, and serum triglyceride in type 2 diabetic rats, and significantly elevated liver glucokinase, liver glycogen, and serum high density protein cholesterol in the diabetic rats. ASK gum significantly reduced insulin resistance and liver fat accumulation of type 2 diabetes.

Conclusion

: Artemisia sphaerocephala Krasch. gum can alleviate hyperglycemia, hyperlipemia and insulin resistance of type 2 diabetes.  相似文献

目的 观察健脾化浊方加减治疗糖调节受损(IGR)患者的临床疗效及其相关机制.方法 将90例IGR患者随机分成3组,每组30例.基础组以饮食运动干预,西药组与中药组分别在基础干预的同时采用吡咯列酮片、健脾化浊方加减治疗,疗程均为12周.观察各组治疗前后的体质指数(BMI),血清脂联素、空腹血糖(FBG)、餐后2小时血糖(2hBG)、空腹胰岛素(FINS)、餐后2小时胰岛素(2hINS)、糖化血红蛋白(HbA1c)水平. 结果 与本组治疗前比较,基础组2hBG、西药组与中药组BMI、FBG、2hBG、HbA1c、FINS、2hFINS均明显降低(P<0.05或P<0.01),脂联素明显升高(P<0.01);与基础组治疗后比较,西药组与中药组各项指标差异均有统计学意义(P<0.05);西药组与中药组治疗后各项指标比较差异均无统计学意义(P>0.05).结论 健脾化浊方具有降低IGR患者血糖水平的作用,其机制可能与升高血清脂联素水平、提高胰岛素敏感性、改善胰岛素抵抗程度有关.  相似文献

目的 观察青钱柳水提物(Cyclocarya paliurus aqueous extract, CPAE)对自发性2型糖尿病小鼠(db/db小鼠)肝脏糖脂代谢影响,并探讨其作用机制。方法 取4周龄雄性C57BL/6J小鼠为正常对照组,将同周龄成模雄性db/db小鼠根据血糖、体质量随机分为模型组、盐酸二甲双胍组(0.13 g·kg-1·d-1)及青钱柳水提物组(2 g·kg-1·d-1),每组10只。干预6周,每2周检测小鼠体质量、空腹血糖(FBG),6周后检测空腹血糖(Fasting blood glucose, FBG)、甘油三脂(Triglyceride, TG)、总胆固醇(Total cholesterol, TC)、游离脂肪酸(Free fatty acid, FFA)、空腹血清胰岛素(Fasting serum insulin, FINS),同时计算胰岛素抵抗指数(Homeostasis model assessment insulin resistance, HOMA-IR);苏木精-伊红染色(Hematoxylin-eosin stain, HE stain)观察肝脏脂质蓄积情况;过碘酸-Schiff染色法(Periodic Acid-Schiff stain, PAS stain)观察肝组织肝糖原含量;采用Western Blot法检测肝脏P-AMPK、PGC-1α蛋白表达水平。结果 与模型组相比,CPAE可降低db/db小鼠FBG、TC、FFA、FINS及胰岛素抵抗指数(P < 0.01),抑制脂质在肝脏沉积,增加肝糖原含量(P < 0.05),提高肝脏P-AMPK蛋白表达水平(P < 0.01),抑制PGC-1α蛋白表达水平(P < 0.01)。结论 CPAE可降低db/db小鼠FBG、TC、FFA、FINS及胰岛素抵抗指数,改善胰岛素抵抗,增加肝糖原含量,抑制糖异生,其作用机制可能与调节肝脏AMPK/PGC-1α信号通路相关。  相似文献

目的:对比在妊娠糖尿病患者应用门冬胰岛素(诺和锐)与生物合成人胰岛素(诺和灵R)的疗效及安全性,总结其临床意义。方法:选取我院2007年4月至2008年4月70例妊娠糖尿病患者,随机分为观察组(门冬胰岛素治疗)和对照组(生物合成人胰岛素治疗)各35例。观察两组治疗前后空腹血糖值、餐后1h血糖值、糖化血红蛋白、血糖达标时间、血糖达标时胰岛素日用量及低血糖发生率,记录相关数据,进行统计分析。结果:两组空腹血糖、餐后1h血糖值、糖化血红蛋白对比无明显差异(P〉0.05);观察组的血糖达标时间、胰岛素日用量及低血糖发生率对比对照组均较低,差异显著(P〈0.05)。结论:门冬胰岛素在强化降糖治疗妊娠糖尿病方面明显优于生物合成人胰岛素治疗,具有重要的临床意义,值得推广应用。  相似文献

目的:探讨鬼针草煎液对DM模型大鼠的血糖及己糖激酶、肝糖元、游离脂肪酸水平的影响,研究鬼针草的降糖作用及机制。方法:采取长期高脂饮食后腹腔注射STZ复制糖尿病模型大鼠,设立对照组,通过单味鬼针草煎剂不同剂量灌胃观测空腹血糖、肝己糖激酶、肝糖元、游离脂肪酸水平变化。结果:鬼针草煎剂能够显著降低空腹血糖水平、血清FFA(游离脂肪酸)含量,升高肝脏HK(己糖激酶)活性、肝糖原含量。结论:鬼针草煎液能降低DM模型大鼠空腹血糖水平和游离脂肪酸水平。  相似文献

目的:研究藏药复方TKF对KK-Ay小鼠的降糖作用。方法:以C57BL/6 J小鼠作为对照组,KK-Ay小鼠随机分为模型组、TKF组(1.125、2.25、4.5g/kg)和格列本脲组5组,连续灌胃35天,检测小鼠体重、空腹血糖、口服糖耐量、血清胰岛素和血脂等指标。结果:TKF 2.25g/kg组从给药7天起即出现空腹血糖的降低,并在给药期间维持在一较低水平,给药35天时TKF各组血清胰岛素水平显著降低,2.25g/kg组血清甘油三酯亦明显降低。结论:TKF具有降低KK-Ay小鼠血糖、血脂和胰岛素水平,改善胰岛素抵抗的作用。  相似文献

目的 :研究黄连解毒汤对糖尿病大鼠肝脏visfatin表达的影响,探讨黄连解毒汤改善胰岛素抵抗的作用机制。方法 :实验采用高脂高糖饮食联合链脲佐菌素(STZ)复制糖尿病大鼠模型,分为空白组、模型组、对照组、治疗组,连续给药6周后测空腹血糖(FBG)、空腹胰岛素(FINS)、总胆固醇(TC)、三酰甘油(TG)、高密度脂蛋白胆固醇(HDL-C)、低密度脂蛋白胆固醇(LDL-C)含量及肝脏visfatin表达的变化。结果:治疗组血清FBG、FINS、TC、TG、LDL-C水平显著低于模型组(P0.01),HDL-C水平高于模型组(P0.01);治疗组肝脏表达visfatin显著低于模型组(P0.01)。结论:黄连解毒汤能显著降低糖尿病大鼠血脂血糖,改善胰岛素抵抗,其机制可能是调节脂肪因子visfatin的表达,降低炎症信号通路,改善脂肪组织的慢性炎症反应。  相似文献

目的探讨小檗碱调节糖原代谢的机制及对糖原结构的影响。方法采用自发型糖尿病模型db/db小鼠作为疾病模型鼠,考察小檗碱对db/db小鼠血糖水平的影响;提取小鼠的肝糖原进行体积排阻色谱(SEC)和透射电镜(TEM)分析,考察小檗碱对db/db小鼠肝糖原的结构影响,并探讨其影响机制。结果小檗碱可以显著性降低db/db小鼠的空腹血糖,降低db/db小鼠血清胰岛素水平;改善db/db小鼠肝糖原的结构不稳定性;降低db/db小鼠肝组织中糖原磷酸化酶(GP)、糖原脱分支酶(GDBE)和环磷酸腺苷(cAMP)表达水平,降低血清胰高血糖素水平。结论小檗碱可以调控cAMP/GP信号通路,改善db/db小鼠的肝糖原结构,修复受损糖原结构,这可能是其调节肝糖代谢,改善糖尿病症状的机制之一。  相似文献

目的:探讨葛根素联合门冬胰岛素治疗妊娠期糖尿病孕妇血液生化指标及对胎儿脐动脉,肾动脉血流动力学指标的影响。方法:选取2014年12月至2016年12月郾城区人民医院收治的妊娠期糖尿病孕妇150例,随机分为门冬胰岛素单独对照组和葛根素联合门冬胰岛素观察组,每组75例。对照组给予门冬胰岛素治疗,联合观察组在门冬胰岛素基础上配合葛根素注射液治疗。比较2组临床疗效、空腹血糖(FBG)、2 h血糖值、糖化血红蛋白(Hb A1c)、总胆固醇(TC)、三酰甘油(TG)、高密度脂蛋白(HDL-C)、胱抑素C(Cys C)、同型半胱氨酸(HCY)水平。运用彩色多普勒超声方法测定孕妇胎儿治疗前后脐动脉、肾动脉血流动力学指标变化。评估新生儿并发症发生率。结果:治疗后,2组的空腹血糖(FBG)、2 h血糖值、糖化血红蛋白(Hb A1c)、总胆固醇(TC)、三酰甘油(TG)、胱抑素C(Cys C)、同型半胱氨酸(HCY)含量均较治疗前显著降低,其中观察组以上指标水平均显著低于对照组,差异有统计学意义(P0.05)。观察组的HDL-C水平显著高于对照组,差异有统计学意义(P0.05)。与对照组比较,观察组脐动脉、肾动脉收缩期最大血流速度与舒张末期血流速度的比值(S/D)及阻力指数(RI)显著下降(P0.05)。观察者新生儿并发症发生率与对照组比较显著降低(P0.05)。结论:葛根素联合门冬胰岛素能够改善妊娠期糖尿病孕妇的血糖、血脂水平及降低脐动脉和肾动脉血流动力学指标,降低新生儿生长受限等并发症,科学起到保护孕妇和胎儿的作用,是理想的联合用药。  相似文献

目的:评价中医护理干预对2型糖尿病患者临床疗效的影响。方法:将60例2型糖尿病住院患者随机分为两组,干预组在常规护理基础上进行中医护理干预,观察两组患者干预前后的中医症状积分、空腹血糖、糖化血红蛋白、血脂的变化情况。结果:治疗后干预组患者空腹血糖、糖化血红蛋白、血脂均得到明显控制,临床症状改善明显,差异有统计学意义(P<0.05)。结论:中医护理干预对2型糖尿病患者的临床疗效有显著的影响。  相似文献

目的:观察加味逍遥散治疗肝郁脾虚型2型糖尿病伴焦虑、抑郁情绪障碍患者的临床疗效。方法:选取符合纳入标准的肝郁脾虚型2型糖尿病伴焦虑、抑郁情绪障碍患者76例,随机分为对照组和治疗组,各38例。对照组给予基础药物二甲双胍缓释片联合黛力新治疗,治疗组在对照组的基础上联合加味逍遥散治疗。观察用药前后患者空腹血糖(fasting plasma glucose,FPG),餐后2 h血糖(2 hours postprandial blood glucose,2 h PG),糖化血红蛋白(haemoglobin A1c,HbA1c),空腹血清胰岛素(FINS)水平及服糖后30 min血清胰岛素(30 min INS)水平,汉密尔顿抑郁量表评分(HAMD),汉密尔顿焦虑量表评分(HAMA)等指标的变化。结果:与本组治疗前比较,两组患者FPG,2 h PG,HbA1c水平均明显降低(P 0. 05),FINS水平显著下降(P 0. 01),服糖后30 min INS水平明显升高(P 0. 05),HAMD评分,HAMA评分明显降低(P 0. 05);治疗后与对照组比较,治疗组患者FBG,2 h PG,HbA1c水平均显著降低(P 0. 01),治疗组FINS水平明显降低(P 0. 05),服糖后30 min INS水平明显升高(P 0. 05),治疗组HAMD,HAMA评分显著降低(P 0. 01),两组不良反应无明显差异。结论:加味逍遥散联合基础用药可以明显减轻肝郁脾虚型2型糖尿病伴情绪障碍患者的抑郁、焦虑程度,降低患者血糖、糖化血红蛋白,降低空腹胰岛素,升高服糖30 min INS水平,其作用可能与改善此类患者焦虑、抑郁等不良情绪有关。  相似文献
