Summary: Bis(phenoxy‐imine) Zr complexes with MAO activation can produce polyethylenes with well‐defined bimodal molecular weight distributions. Polymerization behavior indicates that minor changes in the ligand structures can have a significant effect on the modality of the resulting polyethylenes. Although there is no direct relationship between the bimodal catalytic behavior and the structure of a precatalyst complex in solution, a precatalyst complex having a methyl or methoxy group para to the phenoxy‐oxygen inclined to exhibit bimodal behavior whereas that with a pentafluorophenyl group on the imine‐nitrogen displayed unimodal behavior. Polymerization results suggest that bimodal behavior is linked to the presence of two kinds of cationic active species, which arise from different modes of ligand coordination. A qualitative correlation was found between the calculated amounts of possible cationic active species and the uni‐ and bimodal catalytic behavior. Based on the results obtained, we concluded that the bimodal polyethylenes are produced by two kinds of cationic active species having two available cis‐located sites with cis‐N, trans‐O and cis‐N, cis‐O arrangements. The results introduced herein are rare examples of the production of well‐defined bimodal polyethylenes using a single precatalyst.

Antibacterial activity of various antibiotics against Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolated from each hospitals depends on the variety or amount of antibiotics used in each hospital. The antibiotic, which is effective to P. aeruginosa in a certain hospital is not always effective to that in other hospital. The excellent antibiotics in antibacterial activity have low MIC and hard to progress in resistance, and such antibiotics may be effective against P. aeruginosa isolated from any hospitals. Therefore we thought that the antibiotic, which was progress to resistance, would show a great difference in MIC among hospitals, and we investigated MIC and difference of MIC of various antibiotics against P. aeruginosa isolated from six hospitals. Furthermore, we converted the data of MICs and difference of MIC among six hospitals into the score, and tried to estimate antibacterial activity of various antibiotics by using those scores. From the results of analysis in this report, we think the antibiotics actually surpass in antibacterial activity may be imipenem, cefozopran, cefsulodin and amikacin. New analytical method proposed in this report will become one of potential methods to estimate antibacterial activity of antibiotics against bacteria isolated from inpatient with bacterial infections. 相似文献

To solve the problems of image displays in filmless radiology conferences for the purpose of teaching, we made an experimental
design of a conference system with dual 50-in. plasma monitors for displaying larger images and a shared folder containing
shortcuts to images for quick display during conferences on the desktop of each client computer in a picture archival and
communication system. The image quality of the monitors was evaluated using the TG18-QC test pattern. The display time of
images was measured in 20 cases when the shared folder was used and when it was not. Monitor screen size and image quality,
operability, display time of images, and overall impression given by the system were evaluated subjectively by five radiologists.
Although the image quality of the monitor was not as high as that of the high-resolution monitors used for diagnostic radiology,
its performance was good enough for teaching. The average display time using the shared folder (2.6 ± 0.39 s) was significantly
shorter than without it (16.9 ± 5.04 s; p = 2.85 × 10−6). Despite the need for certain improvements in monitor size and in the operability of the system, the radiologists considered
the system suitable for radiology teaching conferences. We believe that this system is useful for institutions that intend
to introduce a filmless system for filmless radiology teaching conferences. 相似文献

Prognosis of second marrow transplantation after leukemia relapse is usually gloomy. We report a patient with AML who was successfully treated by the second marrow transplant following high dose busulfan, etoposide, and Ara-C for the testicular relapse after the first marrow transplantation. A 24-year-old man was diagnosed as having acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in September, 1988. In December of 1989 when he was in early relapse after his 2nd remission, he received the first allogeneic BMT from his HLA identical brother after high dose busulfan and cyclophosphamide conditioning. His posttransplant course was uneventful and graft versus host disease was not observed. Three months after BMT, he noticed swelling on right testicle. Leukemic cell infiltration was confirmed by aspiration cytology. The testicular relapse was followed by marrow relapse. After successful remission induction chemotherapy, he received 17.5 Gy testicular irradiation and second marrow transplantation using high dose busulfan, etoposide, and Ara-C conditioning. Although his posttransplant period was complicated by severe mucositis, high fever and bronchopneumonia, hematologic recovery was obtained by 3 weeks after the second transplant. He is now continuing in complete remission 18 months after the second BMT. This case report suggests that the combination of high dose busulfan, etoposide, and Ara-C could be a choice as a conditioning regimen for resistant AML relapsing after BMT. 相似文献

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) has been shown to be resistant to chemotherapy and radiotherapy. In order to examine the potential of zoledronate (ZOL), a bisphosphonate, as an anticancer agent, we investigated the effects of ZOL on RCC cells and the involvement of the mevalonate pathway in antiproliferative effects, as well as the effects of ZOL administration on mice inoculated with RCC. ACHN cells were used and cell viability was measured via intra-cellular reductase activity. Chromatin condensation was detected by Hoechst 33342 staining. Proteins were detected by western blot analysis. Tumor volume was measured bidimensionally in mice inoculated with ACHN cells after vehicle or ZOL subcutaneous administration. ZOL exhibited antiproliferative effects with an IC50 value of 2.29±0.53 μM in ACHN cells and chromatin condensation was observed when treated with ZOL. Farnesol (FOH) and geranylgeraniol (GGOH), precursors of farnesyl pyrophosphate and geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate, exhibited potency to rescue cells treated with ZOL. Additionally, Ras and RhoA proteins located in the membrane fraction decreased when treated with ZOL and recovered by FOH or GGOH treatment, suggesting that ZOL inhibited the mevalonate pathway, thereby suppressing the translocation of prenylated Ras and RhoA proteins to membrane fractions. An in?vivo study showed the inhibitory potential of ZOL on tumor growth in mice without changes in body weight. Our study showed that ZOL could be useful as an anticancer agent for the treatment of RCC, and the mevalonate pathway could be an efficient target for novel therapeutic agents against RCC. 相似文献
