PurposeThis study describes the job market from the perspective of recent pediatric surgery graduates.MethodsAn anonymous survey was circulated to the 137 pediatric surgeons who graduated from fellowships 2019–2021.ResultsThe survey response rate was 49%. The majority of respondents were women (52%), Caucasian (72%), and had a median student debt burden of $225,000. Considering job opportunities, respondents strongly emphasized camaraderie (93%), mentorship (93%), case mix (85%), geography (67%), faculty reputation (62%), spousal employment (57%), compensation (51%), and call frequency (45%). 30% were satisfied with the employment opportunities available, and 21% felt strongly prepared to negotiate for their first job. All respondents were able to secure a job. Most jobs were university-based (70%) or hospital employed (18%) positions where surgeons covered median of two hospitals. 49% wanted protected research time, and 12% of respondents were able to secure substantial, protected research time. The median compensation for university-based jobs was $12,583 below the median AAMC benchmark for assistant professors for the corresponding year of graduation.ConclusionThese data highlight the ongoing need for assessment of the pediatric surgery workforce and for professional societies and training programs to further assist graduating fellows in preparing to negotiate their first job.Type of studySurveyLevel of EvidenceLevel V.  相似文献

背景 全科医生数量和质量是人力资源管理的两个重要维度,其中,医生数量的新增、保持和流失,是全科人力动态规划、管理和评价的重要考量,也是全科住院医师规范化培训(简称全科住培)的绩效指标。探讨全科住培学员的就业状况及影响因素,可以为今后住培政策和激励机制的制定提供参考,但目前针对非订单定向全科住培学员的相关研究较为缺乏。 目的 了解河南省非订单定向全科住培学员的就业状况,分析学员结业后未从事全科医学相关工作的原因,从而为完善培训管理和人力资源激励机制提供参考。 方法 于2021年8月,采用分层随机整群抽样法,在河南省选取2014—2017年入培且已结业的非订单定向全科住培学员326例进行问卷调查。问卷由课题组自行设计,主要内容为学员的基本信息、全科住培情况、目前工作情况及结业后从事与未从事全科医学相关工作的原因。问卷通过"问卷星"平台发放,由学员自行填写。 结果 共发放问卷326份,回收有效问卷271份(83.1%)。结业后,从事全科医学相关工作者77例(28.4%),从事非全科医学相关工作者194例(71.6%)。多因素Logistic回归分析结果显示,年龄、文化程度、生源类型、全科住培基地所在区域是学员结业后是否从事全科医学相关工作的影响因素(P<0.05)。与结业后未从事全科医学相关工作的学员相比,结业后从事全科医学相关工作学员注册为全科医学专业的比例更高〔70.1%(54/77)比32.0%(62/194),P<0.05〕,在乡镇卫生院/社区卫生服务中心执业的比例更高〔49.4%(38/77)比6.2%(12/194),P<0.05)〕。194例未从事全科医学相关工作的学员中,从事内科学工作者78例(40.2%),从事急诊及危重症医学工作者33例(17.0%),从事外科学工作者17例(8.8%)。不选择从事全科医学相关工作的前3位原因分别为:单位安排〔34.5%(67/194)〕,所在单位没有全科医学科〔29.9%(58/194)〕,薪酬低〔26.8%(52/194)〕。 结论 非订单定向全科住培学员选择从事全科医学相关工作的比例较低,年龄、文化程度、生源类型及基地所在区域是影响因素。建议加大全科医学理念宣传,加快综合医院全科医学科建设,提高全科医生薪酬待遇,以此增加全科医生的职业吸引力。  相似文献

Consumption of excess fat increases risk for many health problems and diseases. In the present study, 188 undergraduate students were studied to understand self-perceptions of dietary-fat intake and the impact of those perceptions. Findings indicated that the majority of participants had inaccurate perceptions about the amount of fat in their diets. Further, compared to people who overestimated dietary-fat intake, people who underestimated fat intake had lower perceived risk of cancer, had lower intentions to change, and demonstrated less knowledge about the dietary-fat content of many foods. Findings suggest that this unrealistic underestimation of fat intake is a cognitive barrier to dietary change and people who underestimate dietary fat intake may require more intensive intervention to change their diets.  相似文献

Sunbathing and sunscreen use, as well as related intentions, attitudes, beliefs, and knowledge, were assessed in 90 Southern Appalachian undergraduates. A large majority (75%) reported sunbathing, with more than half reporting sun lamp use. A slight majority (56.7%) reported some use of sunscreen. Subjects reporting an intention to tan spent more time sunbathing, both outside and under a sun lamp. Individuals reporting a sun protection intention had lighter tans and spent less time sunbathing. Sunbathing was predicted by perceptions of sunbathing as relaxing, while sun lamp use was predicted by more positive views of suntatns. Sunscreen use was predicted by more positive sun protection attitudes and less negative sunscreen attitudes.  相似文献

This paper reports the results of a postal questionnaire completed by 2343 smokers who had contacted a television company for help with stopping smoking. Of these, 1848 (78.9%) completed a follow-up questionnaire 1 year later. This indicated that 797 had tried to stop, 709 had tried to cut down, and 164 had become abstinent. Analyses show that the intention to try to stop smoking was dependent not only on the perceived health benefit, but also on the subjects' confidence that they would succeed if they tried to stop. As predicted by Weiner's [(1979). J. Educ. Psychol.71: 3–25] model of achievement motivation, those who attributed other smokers' failures at quitting to stable factors had lower expectancies of success, as had those who saw themselves as more addicted. When the follow-up data are considered, reported attempts at quitting were strongly related to previously declared intentions, and reported abstinence was related to previous confidence (expectancy of success) and perceived addiction. There is no support for hypotheses concerning self-other differences in attribution, or defensive attribution, in subjects' attributions for their own failures at cessation. Implications for antismoking interventions are discussed.This research was facilitated to various extents by grants from the British Council, the Department of Health and Social Security, the Medical Research Council, and the Social Science Research Council, London. 目的 探讨认知评价、心理控制源、社会支持与大学生就业压力关系.方法 采用问卷法,随机选取某高校400名毕业生为被试,研究认知评价、心理控制源、社会支持与大学生就业压力关系.结果 ①积极认知评价、心理控制源和社会支持与大学生就业压力有显著负相关,而消极认知评价、心理控制源和社会支持与就业压力有显著的正相关.②消极认知评价、心理控制源和社会支持对就业压力有直接影响;而积极的认知评价通过心理控制源和社会支持间接影响大学生就业压力.③通过调查,在社会支持方面,女生对社会支持的寻求显著高于男生,男女生在情感表现上有明显的差异.结论 认知评价、心理控制源、社会支持与大学生就业压力关系呈显著相关.  相似文献

目的 基于近5年(2016—2020届)中国疾控中心培养的研究生毕业、就业情况进行分析和研究,为我国公共卫生人才培养提供数据支持。方法 利用北京高校毕业生就业平台及资源管理系统毕业生数据,分析研究生毕业、就业情况和特点。结果 2016—2020年累计毕业生共计687人,其中定向生119人,占17.3%,非定向生568人,占82.7%;非定向毕业生总体就业率为93.2%,其中2016—2018年的就业率比较稳定,均为100%;考研或继续从事博士后工作人数比较平稳,共55人,占9.7%;出国仅占0.4%。非定向毕业生就业去向疾控中心、卫生监督中心和妇幼保健院等专业公共卫生机构的最多,占53.5%;其次医院等医疗卫生机构(占18.1%)、企业(占9.3%)。就业去向选择专业公共卫生机构的近几年来保持平稳,选择医院等医疗卫生机构有略微增长趋势。结论 可通过提升公共卫生机构吸引力、加大教育培训等措施为我国公共卫生机构输送高质量公共卫生人才,推动我国卫生健康工作的发展。  相似文献
