Purpose of the study: the aim of this study was to synthesize PFC fNIRS outcomes on the effects of cognitive tasks compared to resting/baseline tasks in healthy adults from studies utilizing a pre/post design.
Material and methods: original research studies were searched from seven databases (MEDLINE, EMBASE, CENTRAL, CINAHL, SCOPUS, PEDro and PubMed). Subsequently, two independent reviewers screened the titles and abstracts followed by full-text reviews to assess the studies' eligibility.
Results: eleven studies met the inclusion criteria and had data abstracted and quality assessed. Methodology varied considerably and yet cognitive tasks resulted in the ΔO2Hb increasing in 8 of the 11 and ΔHHb decreasing in 8 of 8 studies that reported this outcome. The cognitive tasks from 10 of the 11 studies were classified as “Working Memory” and “Verbal Fluency Tasks”.
Conclusions: although, the data comparison was challenging provided the heterogeneity in methodology, the results across studies were similar. 相似文献
BackgroundIschemia reperfusion (I/R) play an imperative role in the expansion of cardiovascular disease. Sinomenine (SM) has been exhibited to possess antioxidant, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antiviral and anticarcinogenic properties. The aim of the study was scrutinized the cardioprotective effect of SM against I/R injury in rat.MethodsRat were randomly divided into normal control (NC), I/R control and I/R + SM (5, 10 and 20 mg/kg), respectively. Ventricular arrhythmias, body weight and heart weight were estimated. Antioxidant, inflammatory cytokines, inflammatory mediators and plasmin system indicator were accessed.ResultsPre-treated SM group rats exhibited the reduction in the duration and incidence of ventricular fibrillation, ventricular ectopic beat (VEB) and ventricular tachycardia along with suppression of arrhythmia score during the ischemia (30 and 120 min). SM treated rats significantly (P < 0.001) altered the level of antioxidant parameters. SM treatment significantly (P < 0.001) repressed the level of creatine kinase MB (CK-MB), creatine kinase (CK) and troponin I (Tnl). SM treated rats significantly (P < 0.001) repressed the tissue factor (TF), thromboxane B2 (TXB2), plasminogen activator inhibitor 1 (PAI-1) and plasma fibrinogen (Fbg) and inflammatory cytokines and inflammatory mediators.ConclusionOur result clearly indicated that SM plays anti-arrhythmia effect in I/R injury in the rats via alteration of oxidative stress and inflammatory reaction. 相似文献
Exhaled nitric oxide (NOexp) is an indicator of inflammation in the airways. Reference values obtained from healthy adults or information on long‐term variation of NOexp are not yet available. The aims of this pilot study were to collect values of NOexp from a selected group of healthy adults and to assess their long‐term variation. We studied 26 healthy subjects (age 21–48, 16 male, 10 female) with normal findings in flow‐volume spirometry, pulmonary diffusing capacity, relative amount of blood eosinophils, chest X‐ray and ECG at rest. NOexp was determined according to the European Respiratory Society guidelines during slow expiration against an airflow resistance. The measurements were repeated after 7 (n=13) and 23 days (n=17). The mean value of NOexp (n=26) was 6·9 ng g–1 (95% confidence interval, 6·0–7·9 ng g–1). The upper limit of intra‐individual variation (+2 SD) was 11·9 ng g–1 and the lower limit (–2 SD) 1·9 ng g–1, respectively. The mean (SD) value of NO production (NO output) was 39·1 pmol s–1 (20 pmol s–1). We found no correlation between NOexp and age (r=–0·06, P=0·78) and no association of NOexp with the gender (male vs. female, P=0·40). The intraindividual coefficient of variation (CoV) was 15·8% of NOexp and 20·7% of NO output within the interval of 7 days. CoV was 16·8% of NOexp and 18% of NO output within the interval 23 days. The results suggest that NOexp values over 12 ng g–1 are abnormally high in healthy subjects. According to the results the change of NOexp by 30–35% or more within the interval of 1–3 weeks would be abnormal. 相似文献
To investigate the relationship between age and renal vascular resistance and to establish nomative data of the systolic/diastolic
ratio (S/D ratio), pulsatility index (PI), and resistant index (RI) of the renal artery in the normal pediatric population,
we studied 252 normal children aged newborn to 13 years (a total of 449 kidneys) with a color Doppler unit. After the normality
of the kidney was established, color flow mapping was performed to localize the segmental portion of the renal artery. Flow
velocity waveforms were then obtained by pulsed Doppler, and S/D ratio, PI, and RI were calculated. Multiple regression analysis
confirmed the age dependence of the S/D ratio, PI, and RI of the renal artery in normal children. Renal vascular resistance
continuously declines after birth and stabilizes at the age of 102 – 130 months. Normative data for S/D ratio, PI, and RI
of the renal artery in normal children were established for each age group. Since renal vascular resistance decreases with
age and stabilizes at 8 – 10 years, we suggest using different normal ranges for each age group when studying renal vascular
resistance in pediatric patients.

Summary The pharmacokinetics of a single 400 mg oral dose of valnoctamide (VCD) has been investigated in seven healthy, adult, male volunteers. VCD was not biotransformed rapidly to its corresponding acid valnoctic acid (VCA), unlike its isomer valpromide (VPD). It had a mean residence time of 13.2 h and a terminal half-life of 9.3 h. Throughout the study, only low plasma levels of VCA could be detected. Thus, unlike VPD, which is a prodrug of the corresponding acid, (valproic acid, VPA). VCD appears to act as a drug in its own right, and it does not undergo similar hydrolysis. The pharmacokinetic difference may account for the different pharmacological activities of the two isomers. 相似文献
PURPOSE: To provide a primer for novice nurse scientists about the increasingly regulated human research environment. ORGANIZING CONSTRUCTS: Federal regulations and international guidelines about protection of human research participants are discussed, with particular attention to institutional review boards for human research. CONCLUSION: Understanding the processes used by institutional review boards to foster ethical human research promotes collaborative interactions and supports compliant research work. 相似文献
