| Abstract: | Calmodulin (CaM) which had been shown to be homogeneons by SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) was modified by performic acid and the rabbits were immunized with it. Localization of CaM in rabbit lens was studied with Protein-A gold method. In lens, from cndothlial cells to fibrous type cells in the cores, CaM content increased gradually. In endothelial cells, CaM mainly localized in mitochondria, microfilaments and nuclear. In the cortex, the localization of CaM in both fibrous type cells with or without nuclear was even and CaM content in the latter was greater. In the core, CaM was also evenly distributed. |
