OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of Foley catheter and hyaluronidase for cervical ripening. METHOD: Randomized controlled trial where 140 pregnant women, with gestational age > or = 37 weeks, indication for labor induction and an unripe cervix, were enrolled, allocated in two groups according to the method of cervical ripening before labor induction. Statistical analysis used Student's t-test, Mann-Whitney, Chi-square test, survival analysis, risk ratios and number needed to treat. RESULTS: Time of induction, dose of oxytocin and mode of delivery had better results in the Foley catheter group. Comfort with the method was higher in the hyaluronidase group. CONCLUSIONS: Both methods were effective and safe for cervical ripening. The Foley catheter group experienced a shorter period of induction, required a lower dose of oxytocin and had higher vaginal delivery rates, while the women who used hyaluronidase declared greater comfort with the method. 相似文献

In our study, the effects of the compound 3-benzoyl-1-methyl-4-phenyl-4-piperidinol hydrochloride (C1) and also an anti-inflammatory drug, indomethacin, tested by carrageenan-induced paw edema and cotton pellet granuloma tests, for their effects on acute and chronic phases of inflammation, respectively. Their effects on vascular permeability were also tested by hyaluronidase-induced capillary permeability. C1 decreased the carrageenan-induced paw edema 61.98, 80.84, and 90.32% at 50, 100, and 200mgkg(-1) doses, respectively, while this decrease was 89.93% by indomethacin at 20mgkg(-1) dose. Antiproliferative effects of C1 at 100mgkg(-1) and indomethacinin at 20mgkg(-1) doses were 46.1 and 43.1%, respectively, in cotton pellet test. C1 and indomethacin both significantly inhibited the hyaluronidase-induced increase in capillary permeability. 相似文献

Summary During the course of experimentally induced myocardial ischaemia affected tissue initially suffers reversible ischaemic injury or, if ischaemia persists, injury of increasing severity before becoming irreversibly damaged. This state is characterized by tissue necrosis and referred to as myocardial infarction. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether it is possible to delay or perhaps even prevent the development of irreversible ischaemic injury. Ischaemia was induced by coronary artery occlusion (CAO) in canine hearts for 90 min or 24 h. The drug used for intervention was hyaluronidase. Ischaemic damage was assessed by p-NBT staining and ultrastructural evaluation of tissue biopsies. Development of irreversible ischaemic damage was prevented during 90 min of CAO. However, progression of reversible to irreversible ischaemic injury could not be prevented during 24 h of CAO. In conclusion, it is possible to prevent the development of irreversible ischaemic injury by a suitable intervention during the early stages of ischaemia in the canine heart and thus to gain time for additional intervention in the early treatment of myocardial infarction. 相似文献

Hyaluronan is a megadalton glycosaminoglycan polymer critical for maintaining the integrity of the extracellular matrix. It can exist in a protein-bound state with aggregating proteoglycans, where it expands the extracellular matrix and modulates cell–cell interactions. It also exists in lower molecular weight forms that participate in a myriad of biological functions. It is unique in that much of it is degraded within hours of its synthesis. High molecular weight hyaluronan, a reflection of intact healthy tissues, is normally produced by hyaluronan synthases at the plasma membrane. It is catabolized by the action of an extracellular plasma membrane-tethered hyaluronidase that is coordinated with intracellular lysosomal hyaluronidases and exoglycosidases. This occurs in local tissues and lymph, with the remainder being cleared by the sinusoidal liver endothelium upon entering the vascular compartment. Elevated extracellular levels of hyaluronan and its partially catabolized oligomers are found in certain malignancies, potentially due to decoupled synthesis and degradation. Furthermore, partially depolymerized hyaluronan in the extracellular environment may have properties not found in the multivalent high molecular weight polymer in malignancies. Functional perturbations of hyaluronan synthesis and degradation have revealed active roles of the synthases and hyaluronidases in epithelial mesenchymal conversion, stroma and vascular formation, interstitial fluid pressure and chemosensitivity. While at least three confirmed hyaluronidases exist in the human genome (HYAL1, HYALl2 and PH20), functional perturbation of these genes in mice have failed to identify a simple linear catabolic circuit. The family of enzymes responsible for the synthesis and degradation of hyaluronan are being characterized. The fragmented forms of hyaluronan, largely a sign of cellular distress, occur in abundance in many malignancies. These small hyaluronan oligomers are assumed to be largely a result of hyaluronidase activity. Precisely how particular-sized fragments are generated and maintained is not known. Presumably, hyaluronan-binding proteins, in addition to the proteoglycans, participate in this process. Hyaluronidase inhibitors are now recognized, as well as growth factors that enhance the synthetic enzymes. A complete understanding of the anabolic and catabolic systems for hyaluronan may provide new dimensions into our understanding of cancer progression, as well as new opportunities for therapeutic intervention. 相似文献

目的 :测定人精子透明质酸酶 (HYD)活性并分析其与精液常规参数之间的相关性。 方法 :用改良Singer法测定 14 6例男性精子HYD活性 ,常规检测精子密度、活动率和正常形态百分率。 结果 :精子HYD活性与密度、活动率及与正常形态百分率存在显著相关性 (r值分别为 0 .65、0 .63和 0 .72 ,P均 <0 .0 1)。不育男性精子密度在 4 0× 10 6 /ml以上组的HYD活性明显高于精子密度少于 2 0× 10 6 /ml以下组 (P <0 .0 1)。不育男性精子活动率 >60 %组的HYD活性明显高于 <3 0 %组 (P <0 .0 1)。 结论 :精子HYD活性测定是评价精子功能的有效指标之一 相似文献

Ganglion cysts are tense,smooth,fluctuant,cystic and transilluminant swellings. They are commonly found on the dorsum of the wrist, at the scapholunate articulation and may involve volar wrist, tendon sheaths and even inter phalangeal joints. This study aims to compare the efficacy and the recurrence rates with triamcinolone, hyaluronidase and sodium tetradecyl sulphate,using the single dart technique. This prospective observational study was conducted on patients who presented to the general surgery outpatient department of our institute with ganglion cysts of wrist between January 2010 and August 2011 (20 months). A total of 180 patients were included in this study. The difference in the recurrence rates after sclerotherapy for ganglion cysts is statistically not significant between triamcinolone and hyaluronidase regimens as Z (P1–P2) = 1.70, p > 0.05 but the difference in the recurrence rates after sclerotherapy for ganglion cysts is statistically significant between triamcinolone and sodium tetradecyl sulphate regimens as Z (P1–P2) = 3.34, p < 0.05 . Chi-square value −10.33 (2 ° of freedom), p = 0.00571987 (significant at 5 % level). Intralesional injection of triamcinolone by single dart technique, therefore, may be considered as a simple, safe, cost effective, convenient, less invasive alternative to surgical excision of wrist ganglion cysts. 相似文献

The venoms of two classes of fish, freshwater stingray (members of the genus Potamotrygon) and stonefish (members of the genus Synanceia), contain not only proteinaceous toxins but also hyaluronidases, which are considered as spreading factors that facilitate the tissue diffusion of toxins by degrading hyaluronan. So far, the freshwater stingray Potamotrygon motoro hyaluronidase and the stonefish Synanceia horrida hyaluronidase (SFHYA1) have been purified and characterized, although their spreading activity is still unclear. In this study, a 59 kDa hyaluronidase was partially purified from the stonefish Synanceia verrucosa and shown to be optimally active at pH 6.6, 37 °C and 0.15 M NaCl. Importantly, the S. verrucosa hyaluronidase enhanced the capillary permeability-increasing activity of the S. verrucosa toxin (neoverrucotoxin), providing evidence for its spreading activity. Furthermore, the primary structure of the S. verrucosa hyaluronidase was elucidated by cDNA cloning. The S. verrucosa hyaluronidase (463 amino acid residues) shares as high as 92% sequence identity with SFHYA1 but less than 50% with other hyaluronidases. Nevertheless, one catalytic residue and four substrate positioning residues, which constitute the active site of human hyaluronidases, are conserved in the S. verrucosa hyaluronidase. 相似文献

Coefficient of kinetic friction (μ) of pleural mesothelium has been found to increase markedly after mesothelial blotting and rewetting. This increase disappeared after addition of a solution with hyaluronan or sialomucin, though previous morphological studies showed that only sialomucin occurs in mesothelial glycocalyx. In this research we investigated whether μ of rabbit pleural mesothelium increased after hyaluronidase, neuraminidase or pronase treatment. Hyaluronidase and neuraminidase did not increase μ, though neuraminidase cleaved sialic acid from mesothelial glycocalyx of diaphragm specimens, and removed hystochemical stain of sialic acid from glycocalyx. Sialomucin treated with neuraminidase lowered μ of blotted mesothelium, though less than untreated sialomucin; this feature plus lubrication provided by other molecules could explain why μ did not increase after neuraminidase. Short pronase treatment (in order to affect only glycocalyx proteins) increased μ; this increase was removed by hyaluronan or sialomucin. After pronase treatment μ decreased with increase in sliding velocity, indicating a regime of mixed lubrication, as in blotted mesothelium. 相似文献
