As part of a training programme for younger doctors, two commercially available, emergency cricothyroidotomy sets were evaluated. Prior to the surgical procedure, half of the doctors in each group received an audiovisual lesson. In a simulated but realistic emergency situation, involving autopsy material, cricothyroidotomy was performed utilizing either the "Nutrake" or the "Gentofte" system. The audiovisual lesson increased the speed and the success rate of the doctors performing this procedure as well as strengthening their confidence. Both systems allowed positive pressure ventilation. The participating doctors achieved a higher success rate at a faster speed with the "Nutrake" set. 相似文献

目的 调查医院感染预防与控制课程设计中医学生的教育需求及教师的课程设计建议。方法 采用问卷调查全国5个地区10所医学院校师生的医院感染预防与控制教育需求和课程设计意见,参考塔巴目标模式课程设计步骤,论证课程设计方案。结果 584名学生中,仅11.8%(69名)的学生认为当前医院感染预防与控制教育能完全满足其需求,需求得分居前四位的为手卫生、消毒灭菌隔离、医院感染概论和职业防护。352名教师中,72.7%(256名)建议设必修课;86.4%(304名)选择总学时8~24学时,12.5%(44名)选择24学时以上,被调查教师建议10个章节学时平均总和为19.5;需重点掌握13项、熟悉9项知识和技能;86.4%(304名)教师建议理论与见习学时比为1 ∶0.5及以上;53.4%(188名)教师建议采取理论大课+小组见习(含技能操作)+线上学习的形式;63.7%(224名)教师建议师资团队由医院感染管理科+感染病科+护理部教师共同组成。结论 当前医学生的医院感染预防与控制教育远未完全满足需求,单独开课很有必要,建议设置16~24学时必修课,理论联系实践,多学科师资实施多元化教学,按照必修课考核。 相似文献

Summary. The University Centre for Health Sciences (UCHS) or as it is referred to in French ‘Centre Universitaire des Sciences de la Santé’ (CUSS), became functional in 1969 with the enrolment of the first group of students. The objective of this training programme was to produce a scientifically sound, multipurpose doctor who would be fully operational in a rural setting with minimal equipment and supplies ( Monekosso 1970, 1972 ). The graduate had to be able to adapt readily to new situations and improvise whenever possible, calling for a high degree of competence and initiative. The training strategies adopted by UCHS in 1969 which met this requirement were later found to be in close concordance with the tenets of the World Conference on Medical Education held in Edinburgh in 1988, the Edinburgh Declaration. While some of the terminology may not have been worked out at the time, the programme developed embraced some new concepts hitherto untried or undeveloped:
- — the problem-solving approach in the first to the sixth year;
- — an integrated teaching approach during the first to sixth year of medical training;
- — an integrated medicine internship in district hospitals in the sixth year;
- — a community-based training approach throughout the training;
- — team training of three different health professionals;
- — competency-based training;
- — health services linked research;
- — health services linked training ( Monekosso & Quenum 1978 ).

Problems related to inappropriate prescribing practices of physicians in general are well recognized. Dietary fluoride supplements have been implicated as one of the contributing factors in an increase in dental fluorosis. Inappropriate prescribing practices of providers have been cited as a major factor in this implication. Numerous studies of physicians and dentists have documented a lack of knowledge and inappropriate prescribing practices regarding fluoride supplements. The purpose of this paper is to identify barriers to changing fluoride-prescribing practices of health care providers and to suggest strategies for implementing change. To increase optimal and appropriate use of fluoride supplements, educational interventions are necessary for all user groups--detail men and women, physicians, dentists, pharmacists, nurse practitioners, dental hygienists, and the public. In addition, environmental supports for the educational activities in the form of policy, regulation, standards of care, and guidelines are recommended for consideration. 相似文献

OBJECTIVES: The University of Natal Medical School in South Africa provides training for a student body composed of two groups: one with English as a first language and the other with an African language as a first language and English as the second. A new methodology was developed to evaluate an innovative course using modified problem-based learning techniques in this heterogeneous environment. DESIGN: The learning model proposed required achieving a balance of three components: content, enquiry/learning process and social interaction/group process. A multidimensional system, felt to be consistent with this educational philosophy, was developed using seven different quantitative and qualitative techniques. SETTING: The University of Natal Medical School. SUBJECTS: First-year multilingual medical students. RESULTS: The results revealed that social interaction was highly successful in reducing barriers between the student groups and between students and facilitators. However, the emphasis on group participation may have overshadowed the enquiry process, leading to superficial discussions of problems and feelings of repetitiveness. During the course students and facilitators expressed concern that the innovative assessments used did not assess the course content adequately. While the group presentations and projects were useful exercises for consolidation and group interaction, they did not enable facilitators to identify struggling students. CONCLUSIONS: The outcome of the evaluation stressed the need of achieving an appropriate balance both in the curriculum and assessments of the three components of the learning model, particularly in a setting where student backgrounds and language ability differ. The associations between (dimensionally scored) measures of attentional difficulties at age 8 and psychosocial outcomes at age 18 were examined in a birth cohort of New Zealand children. Increasing attentional difficulties during middle childhood were associated with increased risks of academic failure or difficulties, juvenile offending, and substance use behaviours in young adulthood. However, those with early attentional difficulties were a high-risk group characterised by social disadvantages, early conduct difficulties, lower 1Q, and related characteristics. Statistical adjustments showed: (a) that attentional difficulties were related to later academic success even when due allowance was made for potentially confounding factors; and (b) early attentional difficulties were unrelated to later juvenile offending or substance use behaviours after adjustment for confounding. In all cases there was evidence of consistent dose/response relationships between the extent of early attentional difficulties and later academic outcomes, suggesting that these associations were not confined to those with extreme symptoms. 相似文献

BACKGROUND: Interprofessional education (IPE) is a novel teaching and learning initiative where students of more than one health profession learn interactively together. However, despite its potential for improving interprofessional relationships, there is little information regarding the participation of student dietitians in IPE. The aim of this paper was to consider the reaction of student dietitians to an IPE course in order to stimulate debate between dietitians regarding the issues relating to IPE. METHODS: Student dietitians participated in an IPE course consisting of seven sessions on communication and ethics in health care together with students of medicine and nursing. Student dietitians completed an evaluation questionnaire following each session that surveyed their reaction to the session using both a Likert scale and free-text comments. RESULTS: Twenty-six student dietitians completed the IPE course. All sessions were rated positively for interest value (P < or = 0.14), learning experience (P < or = 0.036) and value for clinical practice (P < or = 0.05). The limited number of free-text comments indicated some positive experiences regarding interprofessional learning, teaching content and teaching strategy. CONCLUSIONS: This is one of very few evaluations to describe the reaction of student dietitians to IPE. Student dietitians had largely positive reactions to the IPE course. Further research is required to evaluate whether these positive reactions were a direct consequence of the inclusion of students from other health professions and whether these translate into positive effects on learning, behaviour and results. The opportunities for the dietetic profession posed by students' involvement in IPE are discussed. 相似文献

Cultural differences and bilingualism should not stand as obstacles in the intellectual and linguistic growth, as well as the social and the psychological potential, of bilingual children. So, the aim of the present study was the construction and the application of an intervention programme for the developmental speech problems of a bilingual, eight-year-old child. Moreover, the intervention intended for the improvement of his speech development and especially the enrichment of his vocabulary. The construction of the intervention programme was based on the scheduled treatment and the mnemonic improvement strategy, using the step-by-step evaluation as feedback for reconstruction of the next sessions. The intervention that could be applied by a teacher without special training was considered quite effective and should be able to further develop with some improvements. 相似文献
