Therapeutic apheresis in Asia: An Indonesia single center experience

In developing countries, like Indonesia, apheresis is still a relative new procedure. Nowadays, therapeutic apheresis procedures are performed in the field of hematology and neurology, especially in the teaching hospitals in Indonesia. Therapeutic apheresis procedure, that is, leukocytapheresis, therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE), and thrombocytapheresis are already performed. In the period 2009–2013, 204 apheresis procedures in 137 patients to reduce the leukocytes, 72 TPE procedures in 17 patients, and 14 thrombocyte reductions were performed in the Sardjito hospital, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. In the future, to improve the therapeutic apheresis implementation, it is important to increase the insurance coverage and also should be considered to introduce the apheresis medicine into the curriculum of appropriate physician programs in Indonesia. 体医融合专门人才培养现状与优化路径

目前我国的体医融合已探索出以医院为平台的医院健康指导中心模式、以健身场所为平台的体育俱乐部健康指导模式、以社区为平台的健康监测中心模式和以体医融合健康产业为平台的产学研合作模式等4种运行模式。但总体来说我国体医融合尚处于起步阶段，优化体医融合专门人才培养模式成为体医深度融合发展的关键。研究表明，我国体医融合人才现行培养模式主要以在职培训为主，存在专门人才缺失严重、认证体系有待完善和人才培养模式单一等现实困境。同时提出加强顶层设计夯实体医融合人才培养体系，精心布局优化体医融合人才培养课程体系，强化引导完善体医融合舆论宣传体系，标准引领健全体医融合职业标准等优化路径，以期实现体医融合专门人才队伍的科学化和可持续化发展。     

Introducing dental students to clinical patient care: The complete denture prosthodontics transition clinic

Using complete denture treatment as an introduction to clinical patient care for dental students, the purposes of the Complete Denture Prosthodontics Transition Clinic at the University of Colorado School of Dentistry are to reduce the time lapse between the preclinical complete denture prosthodontics course and the first denture patient experience, and to encourage development of student self-confidence and skills. In the 2002 spring semester, faculty at the University of Colorado School of Dentistry initiated the Complete Denture Prosthodontics Transition Clinic for DS-II (second-year) dental students, as an introduction to clinical patient care. Each patient was assigned to a team of two dental students. Three Division of Prosthodontics faculty members staffed each clinic session, providing a student-to-faculty ratio of approximately 6.6:1 and a patient-to-faculty ratio of approximately 3.3:1. All DS-II students in the Class of 2004 delivered their first complete dentures no later than 8 months (average, 184 days) after the last day of the preclinical complete denture prosthodontics course. The time from the diagnostic appointment through the denture placement appointment averaged 39 days for patients treated in this program, compared with an average of 98 days or more for previous classes. The program was successful in achieving the goal of reducing the time lapse between the preclinical complete denture prosthodontics course and the first denture patient experience.     

探究医院电子信息交换标准HL7

医药信息学在医学应用中的最大领域就是医院信息系统(Hospital Infornation System,HIS),随着HIS的快速发展,需要我们有一个开放的,统一的HIS开发和交换的标准.HL7是1987年开始发展起来的一个专门规范医疗机构用于临床信息,财务信息和管理信息电子信息交换的标准.它特别适合于解决不同厂商开发的医院信息系统、临床实验室系统及药学信息系统之间的互连问题.HL7在国内的发展刚刚起步,但是我国医疗卫生信息化发展很快,尤其是医疗保险、社区医疗和区域卫生信息系统等,都十分需要标准化的支持,HL7将成为建设这些系统的重要基础和关键技术.     

Some practical perspectives for educating gifted children

This article identifies common characteristics of educationally related programs that form a common basis for understanding and working with gifted programs. Special approaches and programs for educational enrichment as well as specific activities that have been successful are discussed.     

A combined course of primary health care practice and family medicine at the University of Gezira

The community-based course presented is a longitudinal course running through four semesters in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Gezira, Sudan. Students combine their regular work in primary health care centres with attachments to a number of families in Wad Medani town. They continue to visit these families regularly throughout their entire medical course with the aim of studying them and helping them with some of their medical and psychosocial problems.
