2 × 2 Tables: a note on Campbell's recommendation

For 2 × 2 tables, Egon Pearson's N ? 1 chi‐squared statistic is theoretically more sound than Karl Pearson's chi‐squared statistic, and provides more accurate p values. Moreover, Egon Pearson's N ? 1 chi‐squared statistic is equal to the Mantel‐Haenszel chi‐squared statistic for a single 2 × 2 table, and as such, is often available in statistical software packages like SPSS, SAS, Stata, or R , which facilitates compliance with Ian Campbell's recommendations. 血清镁检测系统溯源性研究

目的建立德阳市妇幼保健院无机铁离子检测系统的溯源性,提高最终检测结果的准确性。方法依据（GB／T21415—2008／ISO17511：2003》中的国际标准溯源链式图自建德阳市妇幼保健院溯源流程图;购买参考物质NISTSRM909b,首先将厂商提供的工作校准品溯源至参考物质,然后将产品校准品溯源至厂商工作校准品,并计算合成不确定度,完成医院无机镁离子产品校准品的量值溯源。结果通过测定临床新鲜血清标本进行临床比对确保参考物质具有互迂穗,同时采用SPSS16．0进行统计学分析,以97％的预测区间和检测项目1／4CLIA’88总允许误差为标准,达到量值传递验证要求,进一步确定不确定度,完成量值溯源工作。结论德阳市妇幼保健院自建溯源流程成功对产品校准品进行了赋值修正,提高了试剂检测结果的准确性。     

Effect of intrastriatal mesenchymal stromal cell injection on progression of a murine model of Krabbe disease

One of a family of devastating lysosomal storage disorders, Krabbe disease is characterized by demyelination, psychosine accumulation, and inflammation. Affected infants rarely survive longer than 2 years. Using the twitcher mouse model of the disease, this study evaluated the potential of intrastriatal injection of adipose or bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) as a treatment option. Neonatal pups were injected with MSCs at 3-4 days of age and subjected to a battery of behavioral tests beginning at 15 days. While MSC injection failed to increase lifespan of twitchers, improvements in rotarod performance and twitching severity were observed at 27-38 days of age using MSCs derived from bone marrow. This study tested several different tasks developed in adult mice for evaluation of disease progression in immature twitchers. Rotarod was both reliable and extremely sensitive. Automated gait analysis using the Treadscan program was also useful for early evaluation of differences prior to overt gait dysfunction. Finally, this study represents the first use of the Stone T-maze in immature mice. Validation of rotarod and automated gait analysis for detection of subtle differences in disease progression is important for early stage efforts to develop treatments for juvenile disorders.     

Verbal learning contributes to cognitive insight in schizophrenia independently of affective and psychotic symptoms

Objective

Patients with schizophrenia exhibit distorted beliefs and experiences, and their own evaluation of this is labeled cognitive insight. We examined the relationship between cognitive insight and neurocognition, as well as the contribution of neurocognition in explaining cognitive insight.

Method

Clinically characterized patients with schizophrenia (n = 102) were assessed with a measure of cognitive insight, Beck Cognitive Insight Scale (BCIS) and a neuropsychological test battery. The contribution of neurocognition to the explained variance in BCIS components self-reflectiveness (i.e. objectivity and reflectiveness) and self-certainty (i.e. overconfidence in own beliefs) was examined controlling for current affective and psychotic symptoms.

Results

A significant negative correlation was found between self-certainty and verbal learning, whereas no associations were found between self-reflectiveness and any of the neuropsychological tests. Verbal learning was added significantly to the explained variance in self-certainty after controlling for potential confounders.

Conclusion

High self-certainty was associated with poor verbal learning. This suggests that overconfidence in own beliefs is associated with cognitive dysfunction in schizophrenia.

SPSS在医学科研数据处理中的应用

目的结合医院统计工作实际介绍总结SPSS（Statistical Package Social Science,社会科学统计软件包）在医学科研统计分析中的应用。方法援引医学科研常例论述SPSS软件在医学科研中的实际应用操作。结果应用SPSS进行医学科研数据处理,能快速准确地得到统计结果。结论 SPSS操作简单易学,能让临床试验过程中所获得的大量医学数据的处理变得简单轻松起来,为医学科研提供了强有力的支持。     

SPSS合并同质观察单位三步法在数字病案统计中的应用

SPSS（Statistical Packaage for Social Sciences,社会科学统计软件包）虽然具有强大的统计功能,但它并没有为所有的操作提供直接的菜单命令。为合并关键变量值相等的观察单位,需要用数据分类汇总（Aggregate Date）、合并文件（Merge File）、选择观察单位（Select Cases）来间接达到目的,简称“三步法”。     

茵陈蒿汤治疗黄疸配伍规律研究

文章以中国知网数据库为线索,筛选茵陈蒿汤治疗黄疸文献52 篇,抽取其中所用茵陈蒿汤加减方,采取Excel 数据透视表及SPSS 19.0 因子分析等方法,研究茵陈蒿汤治疗黄疸的方药配伍规律。结果显示,其方药主要由清热药、利水渗湿药、峻下药配伍活血化瘀药、理气药。     

The reduction of superoxide dismutase activity is associated with the severity of neurological soft signs in patients with schizophrenia

This study aimed to explore the relationship between antioxidant enzyme activities and neurological soft signs (NSS) in a sample of patients with schizophrenia. Sixty clinically stable patients with schizophrenia treated mostly by first-generation antipsychotics and 30 matched healthy controls were recruited. NSS were assessed in two groups by a standardized neurological examination (Krebs et al., 2000). The red blood cell (RBC) antioxidant activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) and catalase (CAT) were measured by spectrophotometry. RBC activities of all enzymes studied: SOD, GSH-Px and CAT, were significantly lower in the patients compared to control group. All NSS scores were significantly higher in the patients compared to healthy controls' scores. In the patients, a negative correlation was found between RBC SOD activity and NSS total score and motor coordination and motor integration sub-scores. The association between low SOD activity as a marker of oxidative stress and NSS in schizophrenic patients suggests a common pathological process of these abnormalities.
