Summary

The groundbreaking publication in April 2001 of the Healthy People 2010 Companion Document for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Health supplement to the nation's Healthy People 2010 prevention agenda marked a crucial milestone for gay men, as well as other sexual minorities in the United States. Based on work done by the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association and scholars at Columbia University, this policy document outlined the most pressing health concerns for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) people. This article identifies those health concerns specific to gay men, and provides a review of highly select Web resources targeting this population.  相似文献

Children's growing use of the Internet creates both opportunities and risks. Collecting and comparing empirical findings on risks and opportunities experienced across 20 different European countries shows significant differences between them. Using Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA), this article investigates which factors contribute towards a high degree of online risk experienced by children across these countries. The research shows that patterns of similarities and differences do not seem to coincide with regional, political, and historical divides across European Union countries. The findings seem to endorse the multilayered approach of multi-stakeholder governance, which stresses the co-responsibility in securing children's online safety. However, one of the most important country conditions explaining high risk appears to be the lack of positive online content provision.  相似文献

Technology-delivered interventions addressing a broad range of problems for which clients present for therapy are proliferating. However, little is known of leadership dynamics that emerge in online group interventions. The purpose of this study was to assess the types of leadership qualities that would emerge in an online social support group intervention to improve medication adherence for men with HIV, and to characterize the demographic and psychosocial profiles of leaders. Written posts (n = 616) from 66 men were coded using an adapted version of the Full Range Model of leadership. Results showed that 10% (n = 64) of posts reflected one of five leadership types, the most common of which was mentoring/providing feedback (40% of leadership posts). The next most common leadership style was instances in which encouragement was offered (30% of leadership posts). Leaders appeared to have lived with HIV longer and have higher Internet knowledge scores than non-leaders. Results indicate that online group interventions potentially may be useful to supplement traditional face-to-face treatment by providing an additional venue for group members to mentor and provide emotional support to each other. However, additional research is needed to more fully understand leadership qualities and group dynamics in other online group intervention settings.  相似文献

Trochanteric bursitis is one of the most common causes of lateral hip pain in adults. The prevalence of unilateral trochanteric bursitis is 15.0% in women and 8.5% in men. Access to internet based information has increased dramatically and health related information is now one of the most popular searches in online activity, despite this the quality of information can vary. The objective of this paper is to examine the quality and readability of internet based information of trochanteric bursitis. Overall, we have found a high variability among not only the quality but also the readability of information published. Websites that appeared first on each search engine for trochanteric bursitis did not necessarily score better, demonstrating the importance of providing patients with high quality resources. Future articles should use more critical appraisal tools in order to provide the reader with more high quality and readable information.  相似文献

目的在"互联网+"时代背景下,研究微课组织模式以及在临床护理教学中的应用效果。方法通过建立微信数据平台,并让护生在教学中进行微课视频的录制实践,建立一套完整的微课互动良性教学模式,让护生参与教学全过程,增强了教学实操效果。选取大连医科大学附属第二医院实习护士60人随机分成两组,实验组和对照组,各30人。实验组采用新型微课教学模式,对照组采用传统的教学模式,最终通过考核的方法对教学效果进行评价,比较两组教学模式的差异。结果研究团队建成了一套微信教学模式和体系,通过教学成果考察得到,实验组考试成绩及综合能力考评结果均优于对照组,差异有统计学意义(均P<0.05)。结论微课教学凸显了学生在教学中的参与性,与传统模式相比提升了教学效果,是一种值得推广的教学方法。  相似文献

IntroductionThe current study examined motivations for social networking site use across three years during the transition from late adolescence to emerging adulthood. While research has been conducted examining reasons for social networking site usage and behavior, the clear majority have focused on samples of undergraduate college students and are cross-sectional.MethodsChanges in motivations for using social networking sites were examined in relation to problematic social networking site use and several behavioral and mental health outcomes in a sample of adolescents over three years.ResultsUsing social networking sites to connect with others was relatively stable over a three-year period. However, using social networking sites to seek information increased from late adolescence to emerging adulthood and was not related to any negative outcomes across three years. Using social networking sites to alleviate boredom also increased over time. Initial levels of social media use to alleviate boredom were associated with problematic social networking site use, financial stress, anxiety, and empathy at year three. Increases in using social networking sites to socially connect over time was related to problematic social networking site use, anxiety, delinquency, and empathy at year three. Using social networking sites for any reason was not related to depressive symptoms over three years.ConclusionsThe current study supports the growing body of literature suggesting that using social networking sites to alleviate boredom and socially connect, may place individuals at increased risk for developing pathological tendencies and patterns of behavior towards social networking sites.  相似文献
