During prenatal life, the ductus arteriosus connects the left pulmonary artery and the descending aorta. Morphometric features (length, external diameter, volume) of the ductus arteriosus in 131 human fetuses (65 males, 66 females) were studied by means of anatomical, digital and statistical methods. Regression analysis was used to investigate the growth of the ductus arteriosus during gestation. The values of the length of the ductus arteriosus ranged from 3.95 mm for the 15 week gestational group to 12.20 mm for the 34th week of gestation. The length of the ductus arteriosus related to fetal age (x) increased according to the linear function y = -3.0726 + 0.4381x. The mean values of the diameter of the ductus arteriosus ranged from 1.34 to 3.49mm for the 15 and 34 week gestational groups, respectively. The growth of the ductus arteriosus diameter followed in accordance with the linear function y = 0.2072 + 0.0935x. The mean values of the ductus arteriosus volume ranged from 5.08 mm3 for the 15 week group to 117.30 mm3 of the 34 week gestation group. The volume growth increased according to the function y = 0.0007x3.3782. Positive correlation coefficients between arterial parameters and fetal age were statistically significant (P < or = 0.01) and reached the following values: r1 = 0.98 for Length, r2 = 0.90 for diameter and r3 = 0.94 for volume. Despite the increase in absolute diameter, the relative diameter of the ductus arteriosus (ductus arteriosus-to-aortic bulb diameter ratio) decreased from 0.80 to 0.48. 相似文献
PurposeTo investigate the effect of nutritional factors on bone mineral density (BMD) using quantitative computed tomography combined with blood biochemistry in patients on maintenance hemodialysis (MHD).MethodsSixty patients on MHD were divided into osteopenia (n = 20) and nonosteopenia (n = 40) groups. BMD, fat, and muscle mass were measured by quantitative computed tomography. The calcification of coronary artery and hilar lymph node and computed tomography attenuation values of the liver and spleen were also analyzed. Differences between the two groups were compared, and the risk factors for osteopenia were analyzed by logistic regression analysis.ResultsPatients in the osteopenia group had lower albumin levels than those in the nonosteopenia group (37.84 ± 3.00 vs 42.03 ± 4.05 g/L; P < .001). Logistic regression showed that patients with lower albumin levels had a higher risk of osteopenia (odds ratio, 1.462; 95% confidence interval, 1.313–1.801; P = .003). BMD was negatively correlated with fat mass (r = ?0.365, P = .004) and positively correlated with the ratio of muscle mass to fat mass (r = 0.431, P = .001). There was no significant difference in the rate of calcification of coronary artery or hilar lymph nodes between the two groups. Computed tomography values of the liver and spleen were positively correlated with the duration of dialysis (r = 0.55, P = .001; r = 0.42, P < .001, respectively).ConclusionLow albumin levels are associated with an increased risk of osteopenia in patients on MHD. Abdominal fat is a risk factor for reduction in BMD in MHD patients, and the ratio of abdominal muscle mass to fat mass is a protective factor for BMD. 相似文献

Platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) was established showing the poor prognosis in several diseases, such as malignancies and cardiovascular diseases. But limited study has been conducted about the prognostic value of PLR on the long-term renal survival of patients with Immunoglobulin A nephropathy (IgAN).
Methods
We performed an observational cohort study enrolling patients with biopsy-proven IgAN recorded from November 2011 to March 2016. The definition of composite endpoint was eGFR decrease by 50%, eGFR?<?15 mL/min/1.73 m2, initiation of dialysis, or renal transplantation. Patients were categorized by the magnitude of PLR tertiles into three groups. The Kaplan–Meier curves and multivariate Cox models were performed to determine the association of PLR with the renal survival of IgAN patients.
Results
330 patients with a median age of 34.0 years were followed for a median of 47.4 months, and 27 patients (8.2%) had reached the composite endpoints. There were no differences among the three groups (PLR?<?106, 106?≤?PLR?≤?137, and PLR?>?137) in demographic characteristics, mean arterial pressure (MAP), proteinuria, and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) at baseline. The Kaplan–Meier curves showed that the PLR?>?137 group was significantly more likely to poor renal outcomes than the other two groups. Using univariate and multivariate cox regression analyses, we found that PLR?>?137 was an independent prognostic factor for poor renal survival in patients with IgAN. Subgroup analysis revealed that the PLR remained the prognostic value for female patients or patients with eGFR less than 60 mL/min/1.73 m2.
Conclusions
Our results underscored that baseline PLR was an independent prognostic factor for poor renal survival in patients with IgAN, especially for female patients or those patients with baseline eGFR less than 60 mL/min/1.73 m2.
