Aim of the study
To assess midwives’ baseline cognitive knowledge of evidence-based neonatal resuscitation practices, and short- and long-term educational effects of teaching a neonatal resuscitation program in a hospital setting in West Africa.Methods
All midwives (n = 14) on the labor ward at Ridge Hospital in Ghana were trained using materials modified from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP). This training program included didactic and practical teaching and was assessed by direct observation within delivery rooms and written pre- and post-test evaluations. Written and practical modules 9-12 months after the initial training session were also conducted to assess retention of NRP knowledge and skills.Results
Fourteen midwives received NRP training on the labor ward. Both written and practical evaluation of neonatal resuscitation skills increased after training. The percentage of items answered correctly on the written examination increased from 56% pre-training to 71% post-training (p < 0.01). The percentage of items performed correctly on the practical evaluation of skills increased from 58% pre-training to 81% (p < 0.01). These results were sustained 9-12 months after the initial training session.Conclusion
After receiving NRP training, neonatal resuscitation knowledge and skills increased among midwives in a hospital in West Africa and were sustained over a 9-month period. This finding demonstrates the sustained effectiveness of a modified neonatal resuscitation training program in a resource constrained setting. 相似文献2.

This article describes a Restorative Nursing Bladder Training program, a performance improvement initiative aimed at helping patients regain bladder control by postponing voiding, and then urinating according to a specific, individualized timetable. Data were collected on 14 patients who participated in the program from April 1999 through January 2001. Eight patients achieved a 100% reduction in incontinent episodes; 1 patient documented a 90% reduction; another patient attained an 85% reduction; 3 patients showed a 50% reduction; and 1 patient showed a 30% reduction. 相似文献

PROBLEM: The United States is experiencing a critical shortage of registered nurses, which is due to multiple factors, including a deficit of full-time doctorally prepared nursing faculty. METHODS AND FINDINGS: This review of the literature addresses doctoral persistence and the challenges faced by doctoral nursing students. Themes found in this review included periods of transition, parenthood and outside demands, delays and "marinating" in the data, and positive aspects. The Shelter Nurse Program offers important nursing care and resources that help meet the health needs of the homeless population and improve the health of homeless individuals and families. However, formalized program goals and objectives, along with an evaluation plan that demonstrates population outcomes, had never been developed even as the program has evolved over time. Thus, the agency sought our assistance as public health nursing consultants to enhance the overall program to improve the health of the homeless population. To accomplish this, we worked with the agency and the shelter nurses throughout each step of the process to assess the needs of the program, develop appropriate goals and objectives, and develop an effective outcome evaluation plan for the existing Shelter Nurse Program. Lessons learned included the value and applicability of the selected program development model, the importance of agency ownership and active participation by front‐line workers, and the value of educating the workers and introducing resources throughout the process. 相似文献

AbstractPurpose: This study explored ways in which program evaluation activities in pediatric rehabilitation settings can become congruent with family-centered service (FCS) philosophy. Methods: Two Canadian pediatric rehabilitation centers participated in this study, which included focus groups with staff members and interviews with parents. Results: Participants identified seven ways in which program evaluation practices could be made congruent with FCS. Suggestions included: (a) the inclusion of a diverse group of program recipients, (b) the use of processes that facilitate family involvement, (c) the recruitment of family champions, (d) the involvement of families in program development, (e) the establishment of evaluations that are relevant to families (f) the development of center-wide statements about family involvement in evaluation and (g) the compensation of families for their active participation in evaluation. Conclusion: For program evaluation practices to be useful and relevant, they should be improved and made consistent with FCS philosophy. Those evaluating pediatric rehabilitation programs need to use approaches and activities that respect the needs, characteristics, cultures and diversity of the program recipients. Such actions will help to improve the quality of care provided, the nature of program evaluation activities, as well as the overall level of FCS in pediatric rehabilitation settings.
- Implications for Rehabilitation
By incorporating family-centered activities into program evaluation processes, clinicians/evaluators can improve the overall level of and adherence to FCS philosophy in their centers, enhance the quality of care provided and, thus, contribute positively to the outcomes of program recipients and their families.
Those evaluating pediatric rehabilitation programs need to use evaluation approaches and activities that respect the needs, characteristics, cultures and diversity of the program recipients.
By engaging program recipients and their families in program development, they may become more engaged in program evaluation.

目的 针对精神分裂症恢复期危险因素,探索适合精神分裂症恢复期患者的支持性干预方案.方法 将64例精神分裂症患者匹配分为实验组和对照组各32例,2组均服用相同的抗精神病药物,对照组进行常规的健康教育,实验组实施支持性干预方案,干预时间为4个月.干预前后采用IBS、APGAR、GSES和SDSS评价2组的康复效果.结果 2组被试GSES、APGRA、SDSS、IBS评分的组间因素及时间因素的主效应均具有统计学意义,且APGRA、SDSS、IBS存在时间与分组的交互作用;简单效应分析显示,干预后实验组与对照组GSES、APGRA、SDSS、IBS相比,差异有统计学意义,而对照组除自我效能指标外,其他指标干预前后比较差异无统计学意义.结论 针对精神分裂症恢复期患者制定的支持性干预方案有良好的实践指导作用,能提高患者的自我效能感以及家庭功能,纠正不合理信念,改善社会功能,帮助患者更好地适应社会. 相似文献

目的:探讨护理程序在甲状腺功能亢进患者健康教育中的应用效果.方法:对150例甲状腺功能亢进患者运用护理程序进行健康教育,将健康教育前后调查结果进行对比分析.结果:实施健康教育后甲状腺功能亢进患者定时复查、按时服药、合理饮食、适当运动、预防感染、自我护理与实施健康教育前相比较均有显著性差异(P<0.01).结论:运用护理程序进行健康教育,可减少甲状腺功能亢进患者并发症的发生. 相似文献

目的 观察了解神经症患者实施程序化心理护理的临床效果.方法 将85例住院神经症患者随机分为研究组(n=44)和对照组(n=41),对照组实施常规心理护理,研究组实施程序化心理护理,比较2组患者焦虑自评量表(SAS)以及患者心理需求问卷、患者满意度问卷评分的差异.结果 入组10 d后,研究组的满意度项目均分高于对照组,心理需求总量少于对照组,差异有统计学意义;20 d后,研究组SAS总分低于对照组.结论 程序化心理护理能较好地满足神经症患者心理需求,显著提高患者满意度,有效降低焦虑水平. 相似文献
