Abstract:Eight cavity liner systems using Selective Interfacial Amalgamation (S.I.A.) were evaluated for their ability to bond dental amalgam to tooth structure. Both punch shear and tensile adhesion along with the fracture path were evaluated. Results showed the maximum mean adhesive tensile and shear strengths to be of the order of 3.5 MPa and 15 MPa, respectively.
