Treatment of Unprotected Left Main Coronary Disease with Drug-eluting Stent and Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting

Unprotected left main disease is the traditional territory of coronary artery bypass grafting. The rapid development of percutaneous coronary intervention, however, has meant that a large body of research has been conducted to compare and contrast drug-eluting stents and coronary artery bypass grafting in the treatment of unprotected left main disease. Through this research has shown that because of the shortcomings of the drug-eluting stent the stent can' t completely replace coronary artery bypass grafting. In spite of this, further technological development indicates that the possibilities of the drug-eluting stent will broaden.
