| Abstract: | Blood volume has two components: red cell volume, which can be measured with reasonable precision, and plasma volume, which is more difficult to measure accurately. Measurement of blood loss is discussed with respect to clinical practice and research, and topical issues concerning blood replacement are reviewed. |
