Protective effect of panaxatriol on function of hypothalamus-pituitary-testes system in rats irradiated with large dose of X-rays

摘    要:<正> The present study observed the protective effect of panaxatriol on the function of hy-pothalamus - pituitary - testes system after whole body irradiation with 5 Gy X -rays in male rats. The rats were given panaxatriol intraperitoneally once a day (5mg/day) for 14 days beginning from 24 h before the irradiation. The results showed that hypothalamic L-Enk (P<0. 01) and pituitary (3 - EP(P<0. 05) and testicular cAMP (P<0. 01) contents and serum testosterone level (P<0. 01) were all decreased significantly,while serum FSH level (P<0. 01) increased significantly in single irradiation groups compared with the normal control. However, the above - mentioned indices all approached to the normal control levels in irradiation plus panaxatriol groups. These suggest thhat panaxatriol may weaken the decrement of hypothalamic and pituitary opioid peptide contents, testicular cAMP content and serum TS level and the increment of serum FSH level after the rats being irradiated, and that panaxatriol may have protective fu
