Comprehensive geriatric assessment

Comprehensive geriatric assessment(CGA) is nuclear technique in Geriatrics and its reasonable application and correct acquisition in technology and methodology may produce significant and guiding roles in the diagnosis and treatment for the aged who are in the stages of acute care,and subacute and postacute cares i.e.intermediate care,long term care,end of life care and in the prevention and control of noninfectious chronic disease(NCD) in community elderly.CGA is a specific application of modern medical model in Geriatrics which includes general medical assessment(diagnosis),physical and psychological function assessment,social and economic,living environment and quality of life assessment,and so on.CGA is put into using widely in common geriatric syndromes and questions especially.By CGA,scientific rational and effective plans are established in disease prevention,health care,treatment,rehabilitation and nursing for the aged patients in order to promote all kinds of functions and enhance the quality of life and healthy life expectancy for the elderly.
