Effect of Metformin Combined with Bicyclo-ethanol on Liver Function and Glucose Metabolism of Type 2 Diabetes Patients with Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver

Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of bicyclo-ethanol combined with metformin in treating of type 2 diabetes patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver(NAFLD).Methods: Total 84 type 2 diabetes and NAFLD cases were divided into treatment group(group T,n= 42) and control group(group C,n= 42) and were given bicyclo-ethanol plus metformin or metformin only respectively.The changes of body mass index(BMI),ALT,AST,TG,TC,glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c),fasting blood glucose(FPG),blood glucose in 2 h after meals(PG2h) and liver ultrasonic B of the two groups were compared.Results: The differences of ALT,AST,TG,TC and liver ultrasonic B between the two groups after treatment were significant(P<0.05).No difference was found in HbA1c,FPG,PG2H,and BMI after treatment(P<0.05).Conclusions: Bicyclo-ethanol combined with metformin can improve liver damage of type 2 diabetes NAFLD patients better than metformin only.It is nontoxic,can promote recovery of liver function,and can be widely applied.
