Abstract:Renal artery aneurysm rupture during pregnancy is a rare event, with only 22 cases recorded in the literature. Maternal and fetal mortality rates have been high, and renal salvage with in situ repair of the renal artery has been documented in only three cases. We present here a case report of renal artery aneurysm rupture in a pregnant patient with congenital absence of the contralateral kidney, which was treated successfully with ex vivo renal artery reconstruction and autotransplantation. The literature on renal artery aneurysm rupture in pregnancy is reviewed and technical aspects of renal artery reconstruction and autotransplantation are presented.
