Abstract:Persistent sciatic artery is a rare congenital anomaly. It is associated with increased incidence of aneurysmal dilatation, thrombosis, distal embolization, and atherosclerotic change. We describe the case of a patient with persistent sciatic artery who presented with a critically ischemic left leg as a result of an occluded left common iliac artery, which was treated by angioplasty and stenting, and discuss the endovascular iliac recanalization in the presence of a persistent sciatic artery.
