Improvement of lipid metabolism and endothelial function by Jiangmaitongzhi in hyperlipemia animals:a pilot study

Objective Investigating the influence of Chin ese traditional medicine Tongmaiji angzhi (TMJZ)on cardiovascular disease due to atherosclerosis(AS)in quails.Methods There were four experimental groups.One is normal control,fed with chow food without treatment;the other three were all hyperlipidemia animal models in which one group a s hyperlipidemia control,two treat ment groups treated with TMJZ and Lovatatin respectively.Blood lipids and plasma vWF were measured and aorta was pathologically checked in al l groups.Results There was positive correlation between plasm a vWF and total serum cholesterol,LD L-cholesterol and triglyceride.The development of atherosclerosis wa s blocked along with the low level of plasma vWF in treatment groups.Conclusion JZTM has good effects on reducing blo od lipids and vWF ,thus could prevent and cure AS and thr ombosis cardiovascular disease due to it.
