Abstract:Peritoneal macrophages collected from mice treated with schedules of Triton WR 1339 previously shown to inhibit metastasis formation in experimental tumour models were found to nonspecifically inhibit growth and DNA synthesis of tumour cells in vitro. No significant lysis of51Cr-labelled target cells could de detected. It is suggested that activation of macrophage-mediated cytostasis may contribute to the antimetastatic activity of Triton WR 1339.
