Abstract: | This study identifies the risks, benefits, and social influences affecting the decision to participate in a chemoprevention trial for cervical dysplasia. Women from three clinical sites in southeastern Michigan were invited to participate in a semi-structured interview. In previous studies, minority women have significant barriers to participation in clinical trials. However, in this study, women (63% black, 26% white, and 9% other ethnicity), were interested in participating and reported only moderate barriers. These barriers could easily be addressed with resources available to investigators. |
