Abstract: | The endoscopic submucosal dissection is a novel noninvasive therapeutic procedure for the early stage colorectal neoplasm. Endoscopic submucosal dissection has an advantage over endoscopic mucosal resection by en bloc resection of the mucosal lesion regardless of the size. As endoscopic submucosal dissection becomes popular, the rate of complication is expected to increase. Although uncommon, complications of endoscopic submucosal dissection have been reported including hemorrhage and perforation. Acute colon obstruction is a very rare complication of endoscopic submucosal dissection, but can be potentially lethal if the diagnosis is delayed. We report a case of acute intestinal obstruction after ESD of early colon cancer located in the cecal base. |
