Abstract: | Legislation enacted in 1991 requires physicians licensed under Chapters 458 or 459, Florida Statutes, to earn continuing medical education in the area of HIV and AIDS and specifies what should be covered in the program. The law no longer requires that certain information be imparted to the patient prior to testing for the human immunodeficiency virus. Information is presented on who can consent to testing, when consent is not required, pre- and post-testing requirements, confidentiality of patient records and possible disclosure and testing as a condition of treatment or admission. |
