EXPRESSION AND SIGNIFICANCE OF nm23-H1 PROTEIN IN NASOPHARYNGEAL CARCINOMA

To investigate the possib1e relationship between nm23-H1 protein and progression of na-sopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). Methods: 80 cases of NPC and 20 cases of tumor-free nasopharyngeal mucosae were detected for expression of nm23-H1 gene product by using a monoclonal antibody against nm23-H1 protein by immunohistochemistry. Results: No significant differece of the positive expression rate of nm23-H1 protein was observed between NPC and tumor-free nasopharyngeal mucosae (P >0.05); no significance regarding the protein was found in respective correlation analysis of NPC sex, stage and size of primary focus (P >0. 05)There was a significant difference of nm23-H1 expression between the patients with non-lymph node metastasis and the patients with lymph node metastasis. Conclusions: The function of nm23-H1 gene in NPC is not sure and needs further research.
