Intracranial aspergillosis producing cavernous sinus syndrome and rupture of internal carotid artery

A case of invasive, intracranial aspergillosis in a non-immunocompromised patient, complicated by rupture of the internal carotid artery due to fungal arteritis, is presented. The computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging findings are discussed. This is a rare condition with a poor prognosis and requires a high level of suspicion when paranasal sinus disease is detected.
