Progressive changes in cuticular pattern along the shafts of human hair as seen by scanning electron microscopy

Summary.— A study of normal hair shafts by scanning electron microscopy shows that there is a regular and progressive loss of the normal cuticular scale pattern from root to tip. Appearances found in pathological conditions should be interpreted in the light of this normal variation.
