Abstract:Presence of exfoliation syndrome (XFS) is associated with an increased risk of complications during cataract surgery. This risk is, in part, dependent on the severity of XFS. We describe a central bulge ("lenticonus") in the anterior lens capsule of some eyes with XFS. This finding is associated with very fragile zonules and a high risk for intraoperative zonular dialysis.
