Assessment of Methodology Quality of the Clinical Practice Guidelines for Diabetes Mellitus in Primary Care

Objective To assess the methodology quality of the clinical practice guidelines for diabetes mellitus in primary care,and to provide a reference for the users and the formulation of future clinical practice guidelines for diabetes in primary care.Methods Many databases were systematically searched.Two reviewers assessed the methodology and report quality of the included guidelines by the Appraisal of Guidelines for Research&EvaluationⅡ(AGREEⅡ)instrument.The consistency was assessed by the intraclass correlation coefficient(ICC).Results A total of 13 guidelines were included.The ICC value was 0.819[95%CI(0.717,0.885),P<0.05].The scores of six domains were scope and purpose(83%,SD=16%),stakeholder involvement(47%,SD=23%),rigor of development(25%,SD=26%),clarity of presentation(81%,SD=7%),applicability(59%,SD=23%),editorial independence(37%,SD=33%).Conclusion There are differences in the methodology quality of the clinical practice guidelines for diabetes mellitus in primary care.The 13 guidelines included in the study generally perform well in the scope and purpose,but poor in the rigor of development.
