Water Extract of Manglietia Yuyuanensis Law on Gastrointestinal Motility and Motilin Secretion in Mice

[Objective]To observe the effect of water extract of Manglietia yuyuanensis Law on gastrointestinal motility and motilin(MTL)in mice.[Methods]Fifty Kunming mice were randomly divided into 5 groups as blank control group,metoclopramide group and high,medium and low dose groups of water extract of Manglietia yuyua?nensis Law,with 10 mice in each group.The gastric emptying,intestinal propulsive movement and serum MTL content in mice were observed by carbon-labeled semi-solid rice paste propulsive test and radioimmunoassay.[Results]Compared with the blank control group,Metoclopramide group,water extract of Manglietia yuyuanensis Law high and medium dose group can reduce the gastric residual rate and accelerate the gastric emptying(P<0.01 or P<0.05);Metoclopramide group and water extract of Manglietia yuyuanensis Law high,medium and low dose group can improve the intestinal propulsive rate and accelerate the intestinal propulsive movement(P<0.01 or P<0.05);water extract of Manglietia yuyuanensis Law high and medium dose group can increase the content of MTL in serum of mice(P<0.01 or P<0.05).[Conclusion]Water extract of Manglietia yuyuanensis Law can accelerate gastric emptying and small intestine propulsion in mice,and one of its mechanisms may be related to the promotion of endogenous MTL secretion.
