The Relationship between Various Internal Fixations of Femoral Shaft Fracture and Their Invalidity

Objective: To probe into the relationship between various internal fixations and their invalidity in the treatment of femoral shaft fracture. Methods: 213 patients who had an internal fixation of femoral shaft fracture were followed up. The operative efficacy was examined. Results: 34 (16%) of the 213 cases had an invalidity of internal fixation. Among the 213 cases, 102 cases were treated by common plate fixation with 24.5% of invalidity. "V" Nailing fixation was carried out in 26 cases and the rate of invalidity was 15.3%. 49 cases were treated by plum shaped intramedullary nail fixation with 4% of invalidity. 30 cases were treated by press steel plate fixation with 3.3% of invalidity. Conclusion: Press steel plate and plum shaped intramedullary fixations are reliable for treatment of femoral shaft fracture.
