| Abstract: | Special nutritional support containing glutamine, arginine, and omega-3 fatty acids has therapeutic and immunomodulatory effects, and can significantly reduce the incidence of postoperative infectious complications and length of hospital stay in surgical patients. This review provides a clinical update regarding the concept and the use of pharmaconutrition and immunonutrition in patients undergoing gastrointestinal surgery. |
