Abstract: | Peutz-Jeghers Syndrome (PJS) is an autosomal dominant colonic polyposis syndrome. It is a rare condition but is of importance because of the risk of gastrointestinal as well as extraintestinal malignancies and the high penetrance in the family linkage. There has been no report of this condition in the Caribbean. We report a 32-year old male who presents with a history of rectal bleeding on a background history of having colonic polyps. Colonoscopy revealed multiple large colonic polyps with partial obstruction in the descending colon. The histology revealed hamartomatous Peutz-Jeghers polyps. Peutz-Jeghers Syndrome is an important consideration in a young patient with colonic polyps. |
