Abstract: | Accessory spleens occur in approximately 10% of the population and are usually located in the region of the splenic hilum. In 16% of patients the accessory spleen will be located within the pancreatic tail. The diagnosis of an intrapancreatic accessory spleen can be suggested when CT, with and without intravenous contrast agent, demonstrates that the mass enhances in a manner identical to the spleen. |
