Abstract:The mechanisms of regeneration and protection of opticnerve, the represent of central nerves, are researched moreand more profoundly and extensively in recent years. Theretinal ganglion cells(RGCs) protection after injury is stoppingor preventing it from apoptosis mainly. The methods includeglutamic acid inhibitor, nitric oxide (NO) inhibitor,neurotrophic factor, gene therapy, acupuncture, traditionalChinese medicine and so on. However, there are nomedicines or operations that play definite curative role in theRGCs protection after injury up to now. So the ganglion cellsprotection is at its exploratory research stage, which willshoulder heavy responsibilities
