Abstract:The dissolution of iron in acetate buffer (pH 4.5) from commercially available preparations that contain several different types of iron salts in various dosage forms were compared. There were substantial differences in both rates and amounts of iron released in various products. The amount of iron released at 6 h ranged from a low of 0.5% to 99% of the label claim.
