Abstract:Objective To investigate the expression of three isoforms of Nitric oxide synthase (nNOS, eNOS and iNOS) in rats following aorta balloon injury Methods Endothelial denudation of aorta in Wistar rats was performed with Forgarty 2F balloon catheter At the 1st, 3rd, 7th, 14th day following balloon injury, the rats were killed and aortas were taken out The expression of NOS was assayed by Western blot Results In normal conditions, vasa express the nNOS and eNOS Expression of iNOS was detected at the 1st day following balloon injury, peak at the 3rd, and lasted till the 14th day eNOS expression was increased by 50%, 105%, 86% and 49% at 1st, 3rd, 7th and 14th respectively, compared with the control group No changes were detected about the expression of nNOS following vascular injury Conclusion The increased expression of eNOS and iNOS may play a role in the inhibition of neointimal hyperplasia following vascular injury There is no relationship between nNOS and neointimal hyperplasia
