Abstract:Schwannomas are benign primary tumors of the Schwann cells of the nerve sheath known to occur throughout the body. We present a unique case of a schwannoma arising from the nasal septum in a healthy 16-year-old adolescent boy. The patient had approximately two months of left-sided nasal obstruction after sustaining a lacrosse injury to the nose. Imaging revealed a nonspecific soft tissue mass, which after nasal endoscopy and excision was revealed to be a schwannoma. We discuss our results as well as present a review of the existing literature.
Keywords:Nasal tumors  Sinonasal neoplasm  Neural sheath tumor
