Abstract: | A patient with severe malabsorption due to massive diverticulosis of the small intestine developed an acute encephalopathic syndrome which responded dramatically to intravenous nicotinamide. Various mechanisms are discussed whereby nicotinamide deficiency might have occurred in this clinical context. |
