Abstract:Objective To investigate the value of ultrasonic elastography and molybdenum X-ray photography(MX-rP) in diagnosing breast diseases. Methods Eighty female patients with 105 lesions in breast were examined with elastography and MX-rP. Pathology was used as the golden diagnosing criterion. The accuracy of ultrasonic elastography and MX-rP for diagnosing breast diseases was compared. Results Pathological examination showed that 79 nodules in 59 patients were benign and 26 nodules in 21 patients were malignant. The sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of ultrasonic elastography were 88.5%, 96.2% and 94.3%, and those of MX-rP were 69.2%, 92.4%, 86.7%, respectively. Conclusions The accuracy of ultrasonic elastography is much higher than that of MX-rP. The combinative use of ultrasonic elastography and MX-rP can elevate the accuracy for differentiating the benign from malignant breast tumours.
