Abstract:
Testing the cariogenicity of specific streptococci in gnotobiotic Sprague-Dawley rats in the U.S.A. and in gnotobiotic Liverpool-hooded and WAG rats in Britain produced very similar results. This suggests that the use of gnotobiotic rats is advantageous for inter-laboratory tests of the cariogenicity of streptococci.
