Abstract:Aim: To study the effect of bloody cerebrospinal fluid (BCSF) on the secretion of endothelin (ET) and nitric oxide (NO) from human endothelial cells. Methods: The endothelial cells cultures from human umbilical vein were estab- lished. Concentration of ET and metabolic production of NO,NO_2~-/NO_3~-(NO_x~-) were determined by using radioimmunoassay and HNO3 reductase respectively, and effects of bloody cerebrospinal fluid (BCSF) were conducted. Results: BCSF of various stage could induce increase of ET and decrease of NO_x~- (P<0. 01) secreted by endothelial cells (P<0. 01). Conclusion: BSCF could induce increase of ET and decrease of NO_x~- secreted by endothelial cells cultured.
