| Abstract: | This paper attempts to explain some general issues in evaluation and evaluative research in the health care field with specific reference to nursing. The evaluation process and nursing process are contrasted and methods used in evaluative research discussed. The case is made for more emphasis to be placed on the evaluation phase of the nursing process and process-outcome evaluation is advocated as a means of encouraging progress in the hitherto neglected area of evaluative research in nursing. |
