SOCS3 gene inhibits the growth of A549 cell transplantation tumor in nude mice

ObjectiveTo explore the effect of transfected SOCS3 gene on the growth of A549 cells in vivo. MethodsNude mice were transplanted subcutaneously with A549 cells, A549 cells stably transfected with SOCS3, A549 transfected with empty vectors, respectively. The tumor volume and weight were measured. Immunohistochemistry and Western blot were used to detect the level of tyrosine-phosphorylated protein STAT3 in tumor tissue. ResultsCompared with A549 cells and A549 transfected with empty vectors, A549 cells stably transfected with SOCS3 showed lower tumorigenicity and grew slowly in tumor volume and weight, as well as lower tyrosine-phosphorylated STAT3 level in tumor tissue (all P<0.01). ConclusionSOCS3 inhibits the growth of A549 cells by lowering the tyrosine-phosphorylated protein STAT3 level in vivo.
