Abstract: | A case of mesenchymal hamartoma of the liver incidentally found to be a hyperechoic mass by abdominal ultrasonography in a 62-year-old male is described. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging of the liver confirmed the presence of a well-demarcated inhomogeneous mass in the left medial segment. Hepatic arteriography revealed the mass to be generally hypovascular. Histopathologic diagnosis of the resected specimen was a solid form of benign mesenchymal hamartoma, a rather rare lesion for the patient's age. Fifteen adult cases of hepatic mesenchymal hamartoma in the literature including the present case are reviewed. |
