Abstract: | A 13-year-old boy with coarctation of the aorta complicated by a staphylococcal mycotic aneurysm is reported. In the course of therapy with antimicrobial agents, rupture into the esophagus with massive hemorrhage necessitated emergency surgical intervention. Review of the literature reveals only 3 other patients who have survived rupture of a mycotic aneurysm associated with coarctation. All were treated with antimicrobial agents plus operation. |
