Abstract: | A study is made of a group of 67 persons with diabetes mellitus, over 15 years of age, in order to know the presence and severity of periodontal disease, in relation with degree of oral hygiene, age, duration of the course and degree of metabolic control of diabetes. It was shown that 85.1% of the cases had some form of the periodontal disease, the most frequent of which being advanced periodontitis (34.3%). 100% of the patients had an inadequate oral hygiene. Lack of metabolic control, age and degree of oral hygiene correlated positively with the severity of periodontal disease. |
