Abstract: | Lesion-induced dopaminergic supersensitivity was investigated in 4-, 10-, and 28-month-old C57BL/6J mice. Apomorphine-induced rotational behavior was examined 5, 10, and 20 days after destruction of the dopamine-containing nigro-striatal pathway by intrastriatal infusion of 6-OHDA. No major differences between ages were observed in the extent or rate of development of contralateral rotation. It is concluded that age-differences in dopaminergic supersensitization are dependent upon the nature and/or severity of the sensitizing stimulus. |
