| Abstract: | Supraglottic airway management is a method to establish effective artificial airway.In anatomic view,post-tongue factors are the main causes of upper airway obstruction during anesthesia.Recently available devices for supraglottic airway management were designed to maintain patent airway,facilitate artificial ventilation and avoid tracheal intubation.According to the airway sealing mechanism,these devices can be classified as peripharyngeal sealing device with cuff,pharyngeal sealing device with cuff and anatomy-directed prefabricated sealing device without cuff.Mechanism of upper airway obstruction,classification of and advances in these devices for supraglottic airway management and their clinical effects were reviewed. |
